advice on mb quart components please***
I am about to upgrade entire audio system in my Z. I am planning on using MB quart pce-216 separates in the front. Question: should i used these same speakers for the rear as seperates or coax? Is 2 sets of components overkill? Or should i use the pce-164 midrange speaker for the real fill? Should i even install rear speakers?
BTW they will be run off a jl audio 300/4 amp
And i will also be running 2 jl 10w3v2 off a jl 500/1 amp
any input would be greatly appreciated
thanx

I've upgraded my Redline track model with DSC-216s in the front only. Giving them plenty of good, clean power with a USX-2100 (100 watts a side) amp has transformed the sound quality in the Z! The soundstage up front is so clean that you may not want to muddy it by doing too much with the rear. I'd suggest trying the PCEs up front and using the stock rear speakers first. You can always upgrade later if you change your mind.

Thats exactly what a few people have told me. But man it just seems weird taking out the rear speakers and not replacing them. Its not about the money for me, I just want to do it right.

Why even worry about the rears. Simply disconect them & forget 'em. (one less hassle when you sell the car..if you wish to return it to stock)
Put your MBQ's in the stock areas and the subbies in the 'trunk' area (with the amps).
Too many(as in amount) and/or too many diff. kinds of speakers will just muddy the stage (you know, its like the ol' too many cooks tale) ;-)
Hey, but if ya' don't wanna trust a girl, my MBQ's , Zapco, and Kenwood were install by professional :-)

If you want to be 100% legit then you should put the same exact speaker in every location with the same amount of power going to it. This is the only way to ensure that the timbre will match. Using the fader will help to adjust the volume.
Keep in mind that the ideal sound stage is in the front of you, just like a concert, and the rear speakers are just for fill. Bass is omnidirectional and is the main reason why a good sub can be located anywhere.
