Default Can the OEM Nav be installed

Sorry if a repost but the Search is still not working.

How difficult would it be to take out the Navigation from one Z to install it to another Z.

nearly impossible, without rewiring your entire car. The harnesses are different between the nav and non-nav cars. That's why it's only a factory option, and not a dealer option.

Good luck. Try some of the new DVD/NAV receivers as a replacement in the dash. Should do what you're looking for. You could also custom fab a new screen into the stock nav area.

Since I have the stock Nav, I have to ask you one thing -- why would you want to install the stock Nav when you can get an aftermarket Nav which plays DVDs and have the crap Bose headunit replaced for a much cheaper price than what the stock Nav will cost???

I friend of mine doesn't want his nav and he would give it to me for free. I was try to take advantage of free stuff. I do agree with you peterhong, I like the newer DVD/Nav systems also but If I could get the OEM Nav for Free. It didn't sound like a bad Idea untill now.

Thanks Guys!

It's really not that hard to install. You do need to take a few panels off (both cars) to get it out and to install it. Basic components are the screen, the DVD reader, The GPS antenna and all the wiring. I can check the service manual again, but I think there's only one wire bundle for the DVD reader to the HU.
I would imagine no more than a day worth to get it installed.

Oh, forgot the control panel too. Just trade it with your stock Nav door trim.

I think you also need to input the audio from the nav to the HU. But the base factory HU does not have an audio input. This audio is for the direction anouncement.

Not true. You can add a 6 CD changer to the base HU (isn't that audio input??) Plus factory Nav is a factory option for all cars, so you can use the base HU.
