What if you simply wired a dedicated speaker to the Nav out put? Is it already amplified or would you need an amp? Then all you would have to deal with was the mute situation.

This is what Mobile Connection in San Fernando did for me.. I haven't had a chance to pop it open and take a look yet, but they mounted a Kenwood center channel amp (hidden) in the under side of the drivers side dash, I belive they used a car alarm relay to trigger the stereo mute, it works like a charm (exactly like stock).

OK, I didn't wanna start another thread about this, so I'm just gonna ask in here.

Basically, i have the same Q as Beaker. But I don't really care about the muting thing. I just want a small dedicated speaker hidden away so that the Navi is no longer associated with the Bose system. Just PM me an answer so I won't be so bothersome.
I did read the thread by ONECOOLEE about using relays and transistors, but I am not an electrician. I didn't understand a single thing.

Would it be as simple as connecting a wire from the nav to a speaker and then mounting it somewhere?

Someone please help me out. This is the only thing stopping me from doin an all-out system upgrade on my car. Thanks

^ I think you still need an amp. I've also been told you can use the mute feature by using a relay.

Well, I don't really care bout the mute function, so i'm not gonna be worried bout relays.

So all it would take would be a cheap amp and a cheap speaker?

You do not have to use extra amplifier, Just connect the small speaker like hands-free phone kit speaker or something similar ( but recommanded to use the speaker in some form of box) to pin # 30 (W/B) for the Neg. of the sp. and pin # 32 (L/B) for the pos. of the speaker.

you can check the wire pin # of the harness from the Thread of 350Z how-to
