.
picture of Passport SRX remote mounted speaker (passenger side under the dash).

It uses a male voice to announce the type of radar or laser threat. It works excellent.

This is the optional LED. You can mount this by drilling a small hole in a convenient location and inserting it. I haven't installed it yet because the speaker warning system has worked so well.

I am considering mounting this LED near the digital speedometer because occasionally I'll have the stereo volume turned up so high I worry that I might miss the audio laser or radar alerts.

REMOTE CONTROL lets me mute or change the volume of the Escort Passport SRX. I've mounted it close to the shifter for easy reach. My passengers like being able to use it too (for that occasional annoying supermarket entrance door. The mute lasts until the next threat presents itself.

That is a nice set-up. Has it ever let you down?

I'm thinking laser is a pretty tough thing to beat if it is a reasonable distance. I see you don't have a front plate...probably not required in your state. However, I get around that (if they don't have a front plate) by shooting at the headlights...they are highly reflective.

As far as interfering...I would be sitting in my cruiser a while trying to figure out what I would write him/arrest for. You could go with a "Obstruction of Justice" charge...that always seems to fly. As far as interference signals...that is something the feds have laws against...not most state or municipal ordinances.

Anybody know first hand?

I Guess that he should be fine because the radar sends out radar waves that the front detector will pickup, even if it is set to go off when you drive by it, so unless you are going to drive 100 in reverse "2F2F" style you should be ok right? or a i mistaken?

Cost is a little expensive. I think I won it for $675 on Ebay back in April 2004.

The front mounted sensor is so sensitive that it warns be of threats behind me, with plenty of time. I guess the radar signals bounce off of everything.

I got a speeding ticket once. It was a laser gun/trap. I was going so fast that I couldn't possible slow down fast enough. It did warn me, and jammed his gun for a short while. He was eventually able to get a reading, and thank God it was only 10 over. It could have been much worse. I had the stereo cranked and just wasn't paying attention. Ever since that, I still drive kind-of aggressive, but pay more attention to the detector and my surroundings.

I'm telling you, this should be standard equipment on this car.

v1 looks like it would be a better radar especially for the ammount of money you spend on that frontal detection system. The laster jammers paired with the v1 seems like the best solution (and maybe an active radar jammer for all you risk takers)

nice setup i like it

Wouldn't a radar jammer just set off the detector?

Default I got one too!!!

Just wanted to address few concerns queries pople put forth with some knowledge I have about this.

1) regarding cop gettin pi*s*d for not getting a reading - The remote mute button is used to shut off laser jamming for a minute or so. It is obviously recommended that you have reduced your speed before touching the remote mute.

2) Radar jamming is a federal crime while laser jamming is not. Escort site I believe has an explaination on that.

I got it on my Corolla - kinda seems stupid but I still managed to accumulate 11 points on my VA license before getting this thing on. VA radar detectors are illegal so a concealed unit like this one was important to have for me. I have included link of my installation for reference. check it out.
