My Cell Phone Install
#5
My cell phone number is XXX-3509 (get it....350Z).
The guy at the cellular store suggested it. When they had the car in the garage to install the phone, all of the employees went back there to admire the car. They all loved it. It STILL is the only one within 60-70 miles so I am still getting "The Look".

FM Cellphone Thru Z Stereo System
Speaking of cell phone holders, I recently purchased a product called the CCM Navigator, which looks like Dr Bonz's holder, however it plugs into a cigarette lighter and plays through FM 88.3 so you have hands free cell calls through your Radio. Works quite well, thankyouverymuch.
Now I know that the lighter is in a stupid location, however, I will be looking to hardwire the unit and place it so place similar to da Bonz.
If anyone is interested, here's the URL
http://www.alternativewireless.com/navigator/
Comes in FM and non-FM models. I chose the FM for better sound through the car stereo.

Good option, however the reason I even have this set up at all is that our digital service sucks around here (not enough towers yet) and I lose many calls. That's why I need the external antenna (more juice...less dropped calls). Otherwise, I'd do what you said. BTW, my speaker is installed under the dash. If you ask me it's not loud enough. I wish it would play through the speakers of the radio.

CCM Navigator Hands Free
I'm a little apprehensive about having to hard-wire this.
1. How well do you think this would work if I just plugged it in the the plug where it is?
2. You think this would look bad?

Re: CCM Navigator Hands Free
While it would probably function if you plugged it into the factory socket, it would be extremely ackward to use. You could not view the phone when it rang, you would be hardpressed to contort your body to push the Answer button, and you likely would have very poor reception by the microphone.
The only practical way to use the CCM device would be to have a stereo shop hard wire a cigarette lighter receptical on the lower part of the dash. This would likely cost between $50-75, but, if done properly, would be inobtrusive. I suggest the area just in front of your right knee. That way the actual phone mount would be about the heighth of your radio controls.
Good luck!
