Default The cleanest Stealth you ever saw...

....as soon as I get a chance to compile and post all these photos! Pix are okay, but pretty good for taking them with a Olympus w-10! Lighting was not always optimum, as most work had to be done eves...but I will get them up in a 7-10 days.

My car's been down for 5 and 1/2 weeks....sniffle. I have had to drive just 1 car this whole month. But will be back up by this weekend. Anyone having questions on audio equip, email me. I know that piece of shet Bose system perfectly, after hours and hours focking with that head unit, an ohm meter and continuity tester, both "amp(s)", and the wiring. Originally, since I have NAV on the car, I wanted to keep stock head unit and and keep the car clean and original. TIL I SAW THE baddest piece of electronics ever - the Kenwood ddx-7015!!! Double Din, clean looking, touch screen, multi-expandable system. This little basterd will even wash the dishes(if you get the add-on adapters/modules!) Well not really, but almost.

My install also included painting/chroming and modding many things on my z, and Dynomatting (I actually used HUSHMAT, as I like the black color vs. silver - spent 500.00 on that alone(!) - double coated car to prevent vibe + 'LEXUSize' the interior) as well as installing body kit, intake, and exhaust. Spent quite a few pennies, but now the Z is no longer "just like every other one on the road". I pretty much double coated the whole car underneath doors, center console, and entire rear of car in dyno mat. Removed spare tire - had upholstery shop custom vinyl/carpet the area that used to be foam/spare tire/jack. Best of all, I lost no space in the car!! No amps, modules, adapters can be seen AT ALL! In fact, I GAINED space from my genius!! All amps are mounted BEHIND storage/luggage box behind seats(I removed Bose speaker cover behind driver seat, and are replacing with another luggage box- I still need this if anyone has one for sale!! Need charcoal/black interior color). I will post photos of amp install! This is magnificent must see. (a ***** on your back and body - dam that z is uncomfortable to work on!) I was extremely pleased with the finish work, cuz' I was able to restrain my usual impatience to rush things back together.

I was worried about the amps over heating in that confined space, so I debated cooling fans and cutting holes(which I didn't want to do), so I came up with this idea - how can you avoid trapping heat from an object that gets hot? By not trapping it! No contact with any surface.... the amps are "suspended" behind the luggage boxes. Luggage box(es) still fit PERFECTLY. No cutting or cheesing allowed here. If they still get too hot (haven't road tested at great length), I can simply remove the false floor of the luggage box of the hottest one, which will cool both amps sufficiently. I also cut out with sawzall most of the center support joining the two luggage areas. Behind this(against rear wall of luggage area) I mounted the DVD-ROM unit for the factory NAV system. (it is a DVD player, but you NEVER eject that disc, and it won't play anything else, what a stupid waste of space behind seats!) So now - I can still eject disc, but it takes a little longer now - removing luggage box. But, I have only ejected it once since I owned car! That was to play a dvd in it, where I found the shity news that it didn't play anything else. so, I put 'er in the trunk ......

Bass is 2 10" woofers (MTX 8500 series).

Look out, JL Audio! MTX finally learned how to make a speaker! And WHAT a speaker. Unblowable supposedly - 400 watts each - I prefer these over JL, just pick one of those MTX's up & look at fine work! Yes, I am comparing MTX to JL audio; in fact, I am saying that MTX will BLOW their doors off now! MTX has really, really improved their speaker design. I hear it was a whole tech staff replacement. New ideas, new methods payed off. Those fockin woofers weigh in at over 45 lbs EACH. Huge magnets and cooling system on them. Clean *** sound and excellent lows will shake the sidewalk. I mounted them in Nazar's(my350z.com)fiberglass box, painted car color/vinyled to finish the all-stealth install.

Just for MTX Superwoofer speaker info: In my other car, I took out the stock subwoofer in the rear panel above rear seats, and put just ONE 7500 series MTX in there, powered by a 300 watt amp, bridged....whoa, that made CLEAN sound. I could have easily doubled the wattage on that amp. That is no exaggeration, as I hooked (temporarily) a 5 channel 1000 watt amp to it. No problem whatsoever, was too overwhelming though, and I had to turn the gain so far down as the bass would overpower the whole system. Try AC/DC with just the ONE subwoofer setup with a 300-400 watt amp. The stock system on my other car is really good as far as highs/mids, and I can totally control bass with stock unit, no stupid EBR **** needed. I also did this "little" install when I was working on the Z!! Used Dynomat and clean hardwired thewhole mess - (also full stealth) on that car also. My garage was an interesting sight. Plastic and car body parts scattered everywhere. A Lexus GS430 and Nissan almost became one car at some point.....but the good thing is, no EXTRA PARTS (at least, UNEXPECTED extra parts) were present after install.

back to z....

Wattage total is 1080 watts by two amps. One 680(model 684) watt four channel amp for front 8 speakers(mid/tweet) and 400 watts(bridged) for 2 10".

I used 6.5 inch speakers with removable (unscrewable tweeter) for mid/highs. Tweeters were seperated on one set of speakers(door)installed in factory tweet location, and factory door location.

Second set of speakers was left assembled(tweeter screwed in) and mounted behind seats in factory location. All crossovers hidden in kick panel by driver/passenger feet, and behind luggage area with amps.

Entire car rewired with Streetwires power AND ground fuse blocks in many locations, as I hardwired a three receptacle cigarette lighter, Escort radar detector, Escort ZR3 laser jammer, Bear tracker police scanner/police repeater detector, and Kenwood head unit. ALL wires are sent through factory cable junctions/boots. Pain in the asstronaut, but no pain, no gain>...

The dash is killer now...I was so frustrated with the f'in wiring of that head unit - but didn't want to lose the double DIN look...with the ddx-7015; I have the best:

TWO SCREENS, BABY!!!!!! Both are properly functional, and I made NAV voice come through kenwood head unit, muting stereo sound and all.

Top screen is NAV in factory location, stereo replaced with DDX-7015 (which plays dvd's any about anything else you can feed it - except 8 track cassettes- haha(even interfaces with xbox or portable MP3 player - I hook my RCA lyra to it). There is an add-on of a disc changer/200 GB data pak as wel, which I may get later, cuz I have like 160Gigs of music on a portable hard drive that i'd like to have in car.

I guess only bummer about it is that I have to actually get out of the car to go use the restroom......

I'm just hoping I don;t wreck the car messing with all this shet while I drive....

Y'know what's funny? All this started(paint work/chroming, body kit, total gut of audio, all the past 5 weeks of work on the car) because I wanted to add a powered 10" bazooka subwoofer in the car. I din't like the way it slid around, so I went on this site to check out other ways to install bass tubes. well, I found out most people aren't using that kinda 'alabama' way of doin' things. Got a zillion ideas from you all! Seriously.... Thanks to this site and y'all for sharing your ideas!!! Hey, if you have read this far... a little word to the wise if you start this large of project. Below the luggage area in the car is the GAS TANK, it is not in the rear of the car like most cars. Do not drill without being SURE what is behind each panel. If you do drill into the gas tank, USE an OXY/ACETYLENE torch to repair hole.(JK!!!!!!).....but first tell your neighbors you are bored with your Z, and plan on turning your house and car into firewood.

Now, i have taken your ideas, mentally catalogued and categorized for easy reference (x files)..... added generousally my genius, compiled them to make a car that will win any car at any show around. Including yours(jk!).....

Anyone want the ddx-7015 or MTX products, I am (now) a Tier 1(best product pricing) wholesaler for most audio products. Check with me on amps, speakers or headunit. For example, I can get ddx-7015 for 1150.00 + shipping. Many as you want! Kenwood site shows MSRP of 1799.00 - Fry's want 1999.00, Circuit City will 'special order' you one for 2K+.....

-Kenwood ddx-7015 double din unit - 1150.00 + shipping (45.00 for two day RUSH by Fedex- USA only) - If in California, I can get ddx to you for 1125.00 + shipping.
-Pioneer GEX-P7000 for hookup of DVD's to play on factory NAV + add TV tuner. $250.00. This is ONLY unit that can do this, and has been discontinued due to too many people converting NAV systems. LAst one I have.
-MTX 7500 Series Superwoofers 10" T.7510.04 . This is the daddy of woofers, The 7500/8500/9500 series are the most powerful air movers I have ever 'felt'! $166.00 each for T.7510.04 woofer. Compare the better sound and bass response to JL's 400.00 woofer. Email me for pricing on 8500/9500 series. 85/9500 series are for show, or mega wattage scenarios. They are really overkill. 7500 are great speakers because of price and product is almost same as 85/9500 series. Check their website for a look at these monsters.
- I can also get Cadence, Pioneer, other brands (full lineup). Check your own prices, then check w/me...

ALL products are in unopened box from factory. Shipping is something that we would need to work out! Speakers can get kind of costly to ship...so if you have suggestion - I am open to it!

I have a few more parts being shipped over, side LED markers, chromed plenum and power steering, washer fluid canisters, etc....

Default Exhausr goin in

Exhaust system en route......car is totally disassembled inside. I literally had to trape wires together and steer with half the dash in my lap to get it to this shop with a lift to do exhaust. I was "multitasking" on the upgrades.

hopefully you can recognisze where this is in the car... this is behind the storage area, takwen from the passenger side door, looking into the passenger rear storage. I am getting it ready for all the electroinics to go in there....I used a Sawzall to remove part of the center support, as you see that piece of metal bending down...it was stillconnected at bottom. I just bent it back and forth til it broker, cuz sawzall wouldnt fit. Ground it & cleaneed it with dremel...so the factory NAV DVD-Rom unit would fit back there depth-wise. I custom made a braket for it and mounted it from top and bottom. I used screws up top, and just Dynomatted the legs on the bottom to the car. That stuff is great to hold anything in place. it'll never move!

I will have in there by last photos, 2 amps, 2 rear crossovers, 2 speakers in tower, DVD-rom unit for factory nav, 10 disc cd changer, sirius tuner, and rear camera wiring/rca hookups. AND, the newly added TWO glove boxes fit in there. Also, have two flip up compartments aswell....\

passenger door apart... being dynomatted, and I used facrtory speakers as mount for new speakers. Cut out the guts of the factory speaker, and used plastic spacer of factory speaker to avoid the new speaker from being hit by the sliding window.

here is passenger side amp (bass amp) mounted with brackets at top, and resting on angle bracket at bottom, which bottom bracket is just dynomatted to floor. Dyno mat also serves at padding or cushion between amp and lower bracket. so over bumps, etc...no shocking blows to the amp.. Amp is solid as can be.

here is my favorite part - the factory rear speaker I hooked up to the NAv voice. So, now the nav will mute my ddx to play the voice through this speaker that fits perfectly behind a/c control unit.

This is rear area, with spare removed, and I moved Bose amp. THis is when I was still going to leave the POS head unit in, and reroute speakers only. was not going to touch NAV system, so bose had to stay. you can see the 4 channel 680 watt amp right next to the pos Bose.
