Default ESCORT Passport 8500 X-50 & ZR3 installed

Looks like Dr. Bonz and I were up to the same thing this weekend.

Just got my new radar and laser shifter installed. Had to go with some professional help because of time constraints. Took them about 4 hours to do everything but it turned out great.

I purchased the 8500 and ZR3 online as a combo for $495.

Used the bracket from Mike on this forum for $20. Thanks for a great product Mike!

Then paid the installers $140 for 4 hours of time.

It got a bit expensive but probably will be cheaper in the long run.

The front sensors are well hidden. The back sensor was a bit tricky. Wanted to hide it under the lip over the license plate as much as possible, not block the plate light, not block the license plate frame and still be able to access the trunk latch. Solution: put it on a swivel mechanism designed from the mounting brackets that came in the kit.

Check out the pics (Ill post them soon) and let me know what you think.

One note on the power supply to the 8500 X-50. When installing this with the ZR3 shifter, there is no need to tap into the power supply to the rear view mirror as many have described on here. The ZR3 links to the 8500 X-50 through a special link cable which is provided. This cable also brings in the power supply to the 8500.

Hope this is helpful for any of you considering adding radar to your Z.

Thanks......I bought the radar and shifter as a combo on ebay through mobile.power. I had a bit of trouble with the guy but it all worked out ok. He originally sent the wrong radar detector but finally switched it out for me. Both units came in the original sealed packages.
