Default Alpine TME-M770 Moniter

I was wondering if anyone has installed the Alpine TME-M 770 touch screen yet. I just ordered it and am worried about the fit of it. I also ordered a 2003 cubby hole, so that might help.

Default Not the same size

It is not the exact same size at the M760. It is wide screen and has no buttons on the side of it, being that it is touch screen. I get it today, so I will post some pics of it.

I did a 2003 cubby hole retrofit in my 2004 Z, and the TME-M760 fits perfectly. You only have to trim a little of the right side away to clear the buttons. Here is a pic of my 760 install in a 2003 cubby hole so you can see the trimming and fitment:

The 770 has no buttons on the side, and thus it is a bit narrower. You can see the specs right on Alpine's website. The 770 is 16 mm narrower than the 760. This would suggest to me that you won't have to do *any* trimming of the 2003 cubby hole unit.

You fit a 760 in the 2003 cubby hole with no trimming to allow for the buttons? That is weird. If you look at mine, the left side of the screen is at the very edge of the hole, and trimming had to be done to fit the buttons on the right. I can't imagine how you could get away with no trimming. (?) Any chance you might have some pics online? (You're link in your sig doesn't seem to work.)

That's wacky. Check mine out. You can see how the edges of my pocket come in just a little bit more than your's do, thus the small bit of trimming we had to do. Weird!

Not quite. My car is a 2004, but the 2004 cubby holes were totally different and much smaller. Much smaller pocket, and the doors simply hinged up and did not slide in. So (as I mentioned in my first post up above) I retrofitted a 2003 cubby hole in there since they are much larger and hold aftermarket screens much better.

It's possible that, due to the complaints customers initially had about the 2003 cubby holes (mainly the flimsy door assembly), Nissan slightly redesigned the 2003 part. One of the side effects could've been a slightly less wide hole.

Anyway, it sounds like folks with a stock 2003 car probably won't need trimming, but folks who do the 2003 retrofit (using new parts, not something obtained from a junk yard) might need a bit of trimming. Regardless, the trimming is minor. As you can see, we simply carved out a small bit. Not a big deal at all.
