I just had my 8500 and ZR3 Laser Diffuser installed last Thursday. Last Sunday, I was driving up 400. I was in front, gq behind me, mcduck behind gq, and lightning guy behind mcduck.

My 8500 goes off like crazy and it says something like "Diffusing", I look up and see a cop on the side of the road pointing an LDAR gun right at me.

I slow everyone down to speed limit levels, and then I look back over at the cop. He is looking at the gun and shaking his head, then he turns to look at me as I pass.

You can get the ZR3 and 8500 for ~650 if you look on Ebay. I bought mine at Hi-Fi Buys and paid 800 installed.

 

How did you configure the ZR3?

In other words, did you directly wire it to the 8500? Did you run both through the rear-view, or use the suction cups?

The ZR3 plugs into the 8500. There is a display for the ZR3, but it is not needed if you wire it into the 8500. I had someone else install it. The used the suction cups and installed it just below the rear view.

 

Bini: Did you use the "mute" function? The ZR3 has a little button you are supposed to hit when you get down to a speed that is legal. This unjams the laser and lets him get a reading on you so he doesn't get suspicious.
