The screen does not fit the cubby with the case on.
This is a custom installation. The screen is stripped from the casing and remounted into the new frame. The dials are moved to make it fit

thats pretty awesome, and from the looks of the lid open, i'm assuming this is a 2004, so it looks like a good solution for us 2004'ers who have little choice as compared to the 2003'ers since the old style lid/box combo is easier to stick a screen into..
did you have to saw off the case that was connected to the dash panel ?

This is a UK 2004 model with the standard lid. I could have got a retractable lid kit fitted but as it is the lid shades the screen when open.
Not sure how this compares with US 2003/04 line up.
I think the case was cut off but it was a profesional installation I was'nt there when they did it.

Am thinking of getting the reversing camera. Might also replace Bose with alpine.

Ted; Have just bought the 2004 DVD disc; comes with more of Europe on it (e.g Czech republic), and different software (not Navtech). Not cheap thoug (RRP £350; bought for 250).

I got the new disc from New Image Car Hi Fi (doo a google uk search). Nobody else seems to have the correct information about the new disc (they tell you its only for the AVIC X1 etc.).
The maps are more up to date, and the junctions tend to be better mapped. There are also meant to be more points of interest (thought they tend to be chains, rather than nice places)
