Metal Bracket in stock location sub
Guys,
For anybody with a basslink or enclosure in the stock location, do you guys put the metal bracket back? It seems to me the bracket might keep the car rigid. I am not sure, but there are like 10 large screws, must have a purpose.
The reason I ask is that if you ever have a blow sub, it would be a hassle to take the plastic panel off (three panels, I don't think you have to take out the top one). Any comments.

It's not on the other side ... and it could be ... which leads me to believe that it is not a structural member.
I believe the reason for the large screw is to control the panel in resonance. Bose likely had some pretty strict standards that Nissan had to adhere to in order to mount thier sub free-air like they did.
That said, I took it out and never noticed anything at all.

I really wish Nissan would have used a sealed sub enclosure, would've made it so much easier to upgrade yet keep stock appearance. A large number of new cars with factory subs have the plastic molded sub boxes that conform to the car.

Doubtful that Nissan actually wanted the pay for that piece. It costs any where between $25-$75 for those boxes (woofer included), depending on the size, and finish texture.
