Default Engine Noise

Here's what I have:

Pioneer AVIC-N1 (DVD/NAV)
Pioneer 6 disc changer
Kicker RS Mids/Tweets, Focal 165K Poly's mids,
(2) RF 12" HX2's in custom fiberglass enclosure in tire well
RF Power 800.4
RF Power BD1000
Pyle 3 Farad Capacitor
Optima Yellow Top Battery
Top of the line wires/RCA cables.

I have placed 2 noise filters and it got worse. Anyone know the fix to this? The install shop does not have a clue and wants me to leave it again all day this Sat. WTF

Ground and hot wire are properly installed.

I didn't pay over $4000 to listen to my DAMN engine through the DAMN speakers. This is B.S.

Pisses me off!

Ah, the dreaded ground loop problem!
How is the optima battery connected to your system?
What if you temporarily tried to power the system from the main battery?
Do you hear the noise in speakers coming from both amps?
Are the RCA cables shielded or twisted pair?
Where did you place the noise filter?
On the 12V line, or on the RCA line?

Do you hear the noise in speakers coming from both amps? No, just the mids/highs amp

Are the RCA cables shielded or twisted pair? shielded

Where did you place the noise filter? right after the Nav unit via RCA cables/

On the 12V line, or on the RCA line?
Hope this helps

The best RCA cables are a simple braided/twisted pair. RCA shielding actually functions like a noise antenna. This could be your problem. In fact, I know many a system, where people purchased "high end"/not cheap noise shielded RCA cables, and had noise. They simply replaced the RCA cables with twisted pair ones, and the noise went away.

I use Rockford Fosgate signal wires. Check out this link:http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/ezcom...e.asp?key=1682 There are many others you can buy that are also simple twisted pair technology (not shielded), and result in noise-free music.

thanks. The folks that sold me the wiring, said twisted was not the way to go. Typical stereo shop answer, their product is always the best,

If the noise you are hearing is like a high-pitched whine that gets higher pitched as engine revs go up, it's likely from a ground loop (it's alternator noise). I am using relatively cheap braided Fosgate RCA cables and I have zero noise. Some (so I've heard, anyway) cables do not have the outer part of the RCA plug connected to the shield, which can result in noise being introduced. I believe the noise on the shield is subtracted from the signal on the inner conductor by the amplifiers to remove the noise--this may be a "balanced" input, I don't remember exactly. If the cables you are using have the shields not connected to the "cuff" of the RCA connector, then there is no noise signal to subtract from the actual program material, and well, 1 - 0 is still 1, so the noise will remain.

Where are your grounds connected? Make sure all grounds you add are part of the actual unibody of the car. Also make sure your RCA lines are not run near any power cables (or grounds) or fans or computers or anything like that. It is okay to cross power cables with signal cables as long as they don't run parallel, only perpendicular.
