Ongoing issues with kenwood 7015 and Sirius Tuner
I need some help here guys. This has been an ongoing issue since a few weeks after I installed the 7015 with the Sirius tuner.
When I am listening to the sat. radio, I only get sound out of the left (drivers) side speakers. If I cycle to the dvd/cd player or tuner, I get all 4 speakers playing. Cycle back to the sat radio, same problem. When this first started happening, I noticed if I tunred the HU off, or changed from sat to stereo to dvd and back to sat, it would work fine. I replaced the Sirius tuner and the cable that goes from the tuner to the HU with no change. In fact, when I swapped cables completely (to one I bought on ebay), I could not get the HU to reognize that the Sirius tuner was plugged in at all! Swapping back to the original connector at least brought me sound again from 2 speakers. This is obviously a connection issue between the HU and the Tuner. Every once in a while it will play correctly...but 99% of the time it nly comes out the drivers side speakers. It's obviously starting to get really frustrating..I hate having things that don't work 100%!
When I have had the HU out, it appeared that one could disassemble the plastic "shroud" that houses the pins in the connector. Has anyone ever taken one of these plastic connectors apart? It appears there are two locking tabs that can be unsnapped, but not 100% sure of this. I want to give it a try, but am a bit nervous of hacking it up beyond recognition. I figure if I can fix the issue this way, it wil save me time and aggravation of having to swap the headunit, whcih is not the easiest install in the world on this car, and which would mean downtime without tunes
Can anyone help shed some light on this for me?
Thanks in advance guys
Adam

That sounds like some serious issue - hope someone with technical expertise replys.....
I am in the middle of my ddx7015 install. removed the stock HU today. I can't wait to get this installed.
You probably already checked the sound effects set up under the sirius menu right?
Good luck!

I have not checked sound effects yet, but I know in one of the bazillion menu options you can turn front and rear speakers on and off...I already checked that
Also checked the obvious (balance)

Hmm, well IMHO, if you've replaced both the Sirius unit and it's cable, the only variable left is your HU. Again, IMHO, I wouldn't try to take that multi-pin connecter apart. Mfr's don't tend to like it when it looks like somebody's been messing with their units. If you take it apart and still can't solve the problem, you may have just jeopardized your chances of having it covered under warranty. And yes, I have taken one apart before, but on a unit that was far out of warranty. NOT an easy exercise. Especially given the fact that you can reset the unit and it works again, this does not sound like a cable short to me. I also know how much it sucks to be w/o tunes. At least on the upside, the Z makes quite a symphony of sound on its own... Hope this works out for you!

Thanks motown - I should clarify - at one point I was able to switch source output (from Sirius to DVD and back to Sirius) and it would work - it has not let me do that in many months though.
