hey, a while back, i did an isntall on a Z and replaced the two foam pieces below the trunk with enclosures housing two solodbaric 8s, and it sounded pretty darn good...

perhaps you canlook into building something like that? i think it would be a great seller

I cant say enough good things about this box!! It doesnt have a amp rack on the back but I had it mounted and sealed the right way. Having my windows tinted prevents it frome being seen that well but there are many other oprions for amp mounting with the Z. The install is as easy as a normal box (just slides under the strut with a little push). the carpet matches the interior perfectly and the sound is just enough. I have two JL audio 10" W3 in there. Highly recommended!!!

I wouldn't mind a single 12 either, I would rather have this than two 10's.

I like single 12 cause i think it looks cleaner and its normally less weight then a 2 10's, less power, but in teh end it all personal preferance.

I do have a couple designs for a single 12" sub. One sits in front of the strut bar and the other is a spare tire well box. The one in front of the strut bar is functional but not that custom of a fit. The spare tire box you have to sacrifice your spare.....this is the box I use but for 2-10". I carry a 12 volt pump, plug kit, and worse case a can of fix-a-flat.

I just got back from Sound Advice and they were nice enough to let me test fit a JL 10w7 and an Alpine Type X in the newly designed box....both fit with no problem at all.

I have test fit the Type X and they do fit. For the 2-10" version your looking at approx. .67 per woofer/side of airspace which is within the specs for this sub.

Friday I dropped off this box for install using a single Type X with a port. The owner called me this morning and said it sounds fantastic. This was good news since I've never done any porting. Once I hear it for myself I'm sure I'll be switching over to this design.
I will have pics of his install later this week after he stops by.

thanks mike

After test fitting the box in my 2005 and then in a 2006 I noticed Nissan has added a .30" rubber seal/gasket under the edge of the plastic spare tire cover. This raises the floor slighty and makes the box harder to get in. If you have a 2006 and have any trouble during install you can remove this seal or take the secondary grey trunk mat out of the car.

Here are a few pictures from the first install of this new box. Sounded great with the port.
The installer(CC) didn't push the box all the way in properly when he attached the amp rack so it does have to go back and get reinstalled.

Also, here's a pic of my car....finally almost done.

I agree, to be a ported box you need well over 1.0 per sub and thats a good estimate for any two subs.

I have a ported enclosure and it takes up the entire rear (including spare tire location) and I have almost 4.0 cubic feet! (TIGHT FIT LOL)

Oh not to mention the port size would have to be pretty large for small enclosures. I have 2 ports both same size. (Each is big enough to fit my fist in)
