Default my "poor boy" install....

Well, i finally sat down and tore into my car to start installing my entertainment system.

Breakdown of install as it happens:

Stock Bose system and speakers.
FM Modulator for line input.
NESA TFT LCD 5.6" Screen with internal tv tuner.
Soundstorm DVD/VCD/MP3/CD/CD-R player.

Currently today (1-17-03) i got the screen installed, and power run to "rear" outlet.

More posts as the install progresses.

If anyone asks, im not really into spending 1500+ dollars for a screen and dvd navigations bell and whistle system, i just want a simple inexpensive system to fill the void that not having navi leaves....

EDIT: I posted pic links, but i had to right click and show image to get them to show up, if anyone knows why, please pm me!

Dont have the DVD yet, its still in the mail somewhere, should be delivered early next week. I hardwired a 3 way splitter to teh rear outlet, and i will install my dvd, screen, and radar plugs to that so i dont have to cut all the accessory plugs off them all. I will be mounting the dvd vertical behind the passenger seat, dimensions show that it will be a decent fit, and fairly easy for me to reach without moving the seat. I may end up getting a trim plate and mounting in the passenger upper storage pocket thing later, but im keeping it stealth and simple for now.

The more i look at teh pics the more i realize how crappy they make that screen look, its hard to explain but the screen matches so perfectly to teh silver/aluminum of the rest of the accents, that it looks like it could have been a dealer option. Pics somehow made the paint light up on teh mounting frame of teh screen. The last pic of the series best represents the install as far as fitment goes, i tried best to balance the upper and lower gap, and the housing is amazingly exactly the same width as the opening so i just centered it.

Did you mount it with industrial doublesided tape or something else?

Yep, just plain old 3m double sided high hold (low surface energy?) black foam tape. It was installed on a very cold day, and has been cold since then, and the tape is holding STRONG for 5 days straight. I have a very good feeling that it wont be going anywhere any time soon.

Sorry, no pics but its really easy, just t-splice the positive lead from the splitter into teh 12v lead on teh outlet, and t-splice the ground wire from teh splitter to teh ground wire of the outlet. Its a pretty simple thing to do, very basic. Just remember to cut teh outlet plug off the splitter first if it has one, and make sure the ground is under 18" long back to the outlet ground wire.
