very very clean install on the subs. After pondering losing my boot to sub space, im going to go with the same setup u have when installing two 10s. I know its not the best location for sound reproduction, but it just looks so neat, with everything hidden away. Im going to email Courtesy Parts now and order that metal sub bracket.

Great job!!!

Default subwoofer mount bracket

Great Install. This is what I'm after. I would also like to know how the subwoofer was mounted on the bracket. I can't find much information on any 350z forum on how to actually fit the subwoofer in the much bigger hole of the factory stock location bracket. I also can't find any "good" subwoofer with the exact screw locations which is 10.5" diameter. Thank you.

Thumbs down

Dynamat all you want, but there is NO WAY you can correctly reproduce bass like that without a sealed enclosure. I'm suprised a shop would even suggest such an install. Nonethess, it looks great. I wanna do the same setup in my car as well. I figured I'll have to go with a custom fiberglas enclosure in each cavity regardless.

I hate fiberglas work. But...

Don't want to hijack, but I sealed the space behind my seat and did a dual JL 10w3v2 behing my seats. The openings are a pain to seal but some dynamat and liquid fiberglass and you can seal it up.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask - mikegronholz@bigfoot.com

As for parts, the passenger side uses the exact same as the drivers...the openings are identical. I have done a glovebox swap on the driver's side as well for a buddy...he now has a glove box behind each seat.

What's the benefit to having subs face back as opposed to forward? Sorry i'm not too knowledgeable yet with systems

Also, is it possible to have this type of setup while still getting the best sound out? I heard someone mentioning a fiberglass encasing inside. Is there enough room for that and will it reproduce just as good a sound as if they faced back towards the trunks? Thanks!

The work was done at Tweeter in Towson Md. Matt was my installer. The # there is 410-339-7210. I have since redone the Sub configuration. Here's a link to that thread.

Hey, I was wondering when you installed that "freeair" did you seal the compartment with anything other than dynamat? or is it just stuffed with the sound dampening stuff...

let me know!

Just dynomat. From what I've read of other installs, the people who are sealing the compartments are getting great results.

Any idea on how to seal the compartment? like with a box, or is there other ways? How does it sound with just the dynomat?

I didn't like it with the freeair subs and dynomat so I had it redone. I posted a link a few post ago with my new setup. Some people did make boxes for the space. Look at this tread for some ideas.

Hello! I really like the way that you set up your subs. I would like to ask you a few more questions. I recently purchased my 350Z and after considering the different alternatives on how to set up my subs, your way is a very inexpensive but yeath very clean and neat looking way of conceiling the speaker. How satisfied are you? Do you miss the compartment space? is the amplifier located inside of the compartment? did you had to divide the compartment? and finnally did the compartment is somewhat seal? I appreciate your input. I am just about ready to make my finnal desicion and I allready checked with nisssan and they have the cover and the metal piece for sale. Sorry but did the plastic cover also ftted well behind the passanger side or did you had to do some modification?

One sub was mounted in the factory bose location and the other was installed behind the passenger. I ordered a second sub mounting bracket from Courtosy for 20.00 which bolted right into the factory holes after removing the storage compartment. No additional drilling was nessesary. Plenty of dynomat was used on the inside of the compartments which helped tighten up the sound. The final result a very clean sounding system with plenty of punch but not overpowering. I couldn't be happier! Here are some pictures.
hey man you have a PM.
