Install Guide:Bose, Kenwood DNX7100, PAC ROEM-NIS2, 03 cubby painted, cubby monitor

That's a good question. I haven't installed mine yet, but that's how I mine wired so far. I assume that's what we're supposed to do though... but hopefully someone with better knowledge could chime in.

Hey k16, did you ever figure out how to put nav in the cubby monitor? Goku was able to do it with the DNX 8120, so I figure a 7100 should be able to as well right?

Also, do you know how to change that leaf wallpaper thing that shows up on the 2nd screen when a DVD is not being used?
EDIT: I emailed Kenwood this question and they say it's not possible

Apparently the ability to av-out the nav was not available until the 08 units... So the 7100 is not capable of doing this. It might be possible with other equipment but I don't care enough to do that.

Can anyone help me? I need the wiring diagram of a bose 28060 (24 & 8 pin) amplifier
I bought a factory bose amplifier with speakers and am planning on putting in a different vehicle. Would you recommend doing that or are they not any good?

This DIY is the one of the best that I have seen!!! Thanks to k1653d!!!
I followed this DIY and installed my AVIC Z130bt in my 05 Z.
I have a questions to you guys.
Where did you guys put GPS antenna from Navi ?
Where is the best spot for the antenna which looks like OEM ?

New HU + speakers but use old bose sub and amp.
My plan is to run new wire, replace the front and rear speakers and temporarily run on the old bose sub and amp. I am wondering if this is a bad idea...
I plan to visit home later this year, where I have an amp and decent sub in storage. I will add these later so this will be sort of a 2 stage deal. I just wondered how easy is it to use the existing amp/sub if I am running direct wire to the other speakers?
I will not want to buy the adapter just to run the old sub. But I will need to figure out how to wire things to send a signal to the sub and also turn on the amp. (Or is the amp not turned on by the head unit)?????
Please advise

Hey guys, sorry to ressurect the thread, but I am doing a bit of research on this topic. I have an 04 w/bose and stock nav system. I am planning on just installing a double DIN H/U. What issues will the NAV cause me during the installation? Also, I know I will loose the Voice guidance feature, but I don't really care about that anyways and don't feel like messing with the mute circuit hack. Any input would greatly help, thanks.

okay, very informative post! so i have two questions - 'why' do we need to hook up the antenna power (when it is not a 'power antenna' (it has no retract motor - it just 'stays there'))?
Two - is there a separate amp for the Bose sub?
my issue is NO radio reception and no sub output.
So should i connect the power antenna wires? There was an 'antenna adapter' included in the install kit - but the antenna jack from the Bose looks the exact same as any regular antenna jack... Do i need the adapter?
The bass amp gets it signal from a summation of the inputs - so i don't think i messed up anything there.... is there a separate fuse?
I replaced the Bose 6 cd 'premium' head unit using the recommended interface for the Bose. in my 2004 Touring.
Thanks for any help!

Follow up:
1. It is a light green/white wire with antenna that needs power. I used the blue amp signal wire - radio works great now!
2. The sub amp needed the 'fix' of putting pressure on the relay - works great now!
3. I did not ground the harness at the radio - but used the black wire - no problem!
4. I did have to use a thread kit to open the new radio hole to fit the screws from the OEM radio/bracket.
so... the antenna adapter is for sale on Ebay (unneeded) along with the old radio...

First you, thank you for taking your time to write up this DIY guide. Most people would do their research but refuse to share their knowledge. I especially liked the Q&A part, that really cleared up a lot of things.
That being said, I've been browsing the net for the past 6 hours on the installation (no existing knowledge of anything electrical related meant I didn't even know what a harness was to begin with). I think I've gotten more information off this one thread than what I've read thus far combined. I still, however, have a few questions:
I watched a video on general installation of aftermarket DD HU's, and there was snipping of wires from the harness involved. Would that step still be necessary if I got the Pac Roem?
I was told that installing a DD HU would not require an installation kit because I could reuse existing hardware, and instead just get a dash kit like the one below to finish off the look, is that true?
Scosche dash kit:
Finally (and this may seem like a silly question), how do the dimensions work exactly? It is to my understanding that the din slots, single or double, are standard sizes but the aftermarket HU's have varying dimensions.
I'd appreciate if someone could shed some light.
My car's a 2003 Touring 350z.
