I actually just bought one and had a question. I noticed you didnt install the window actuator for the roll up / down feature, or the trunk release solenoid. I bought them but do I really need them? The 03 350z has that built in to the original keyfob so im guessing we already have a trunk release solenoid correct? If we dont need them ill return them.

Correct, you don't need them. Though for the windows, you'll need to run the wires through into the driver door panel.

One thing I recommend in addition to this DIY is to silicone up the hole you cut in the main boot. You're going to let water in right on top of the ECM otherwise.

That said...

I installed a 5901 with all the bells and whistles a couple years ago (before you wrote this) and it was the biggest PITA. Had to redo half of it with trial and error since the documentation for the can interface/bypass module was totally wrong. Worked fine for a few months then the brain bricked itself twice (had to reset using a bitwriter). After the third time I ripped everything out, rma'd it all and paid a professional (who had done dozens of these in G/Z's) to redo it. Been flawless for the past 2 years now LOL. I DO NOT recommend this project as a DIY unless you have considerable experience with vehicle wiring preferably alarm/starter installs. I had installed alarms for several years in my past life (early 2000's) and this STILL kicked my **** LOL.

Excellent write up on the install. I think I have everything I need to begin mine. However I am installing the Viper 3203 which has quite a few differences but I think for the most part I have deciphered them. I tried to pull up the wiring diagram for your H2 harness and for what ever reason it is a disrupted link. It pulls up a page with a bunch of symbols. Is there anyway I would be able to get that diagram from you?

Just an update for people. Every thing had been running great up until a couple months ago. My remote start function stopped working. Funny thing is, I liked the remote start feature so that I could warm up my car in the mornings and just my luck that it dies out right before it starts getting cold.
But anyways, I didn't bother trying to fix the problem because of school and the holidays but today, I tried to find out what it was and after having redundantly messed with many wires, I may have found the solution.
Every time I tried to remote start it, it would crank for what seemed like forever, and then just die out. And it would do this like 3 or 4 times total and then nothing, as if I never pushed the remote start. Well, I tore the steering wheel column apart to try and see if I had any wires that were disconnected but everything looked good. And in the midst of sitting there confused as ****, I noticed the red LED on the XK07 wasn't on. I remembered it being on at least one time when I was putting everything back together. So I tried turning on the car, locking it, unlocking it, and remote starting it, yet nothing came on. I then inserted the key without turning it, and tried to remote start, and it turned on! I'm guessing it's a faulty XK07. Just ordered one and I'll update as soon as I swap it out.

Update on my alarm: FIXED! It turned out to be the XK07 after all! Just as it started to get cold again too =)

Everything has been working just as the first day (except for minor problem with the XK07 and.. window issue I messed up due to using the factory remote in sync with new alarm.. DON'T DO IT),

But..

Sad day today =( I was replacing my old two 10" subs with a new one and everything was going good, until I tried screwing in the nut to the positive termina on the battery,l with a battery powered drill =((( It was fourth of july in my engine bay! Sparks EVERYWHERE. The horn inside the cabin (from installation) went off and didn't turn off until I unattached it from the battery. Parking lights started flashing but no alarm went off in the engine bay, where the other horn is located. I then tried to lock and unlock from viper remote and nothing... Remote-start, nothing... I gave up and finished installing the sub. Everything else works; dash, stereo, speakers and sub. Car turns on. Factory remote works too. Used the factory remote to lock and unlock it. I'm stumped on what to do. I Just finished taking apart my dash to unplug everything and leave it like that over night. Does any one have any suggestions?

Does anybody have the original pictures for this DIY? I'm installing a viper alarm to a newly obtained 03' Z, and am having some trouble identifying the harnesses.
