I have a ratlle in my B pillar which the dealer is working on.

The other issue that I have is that the ventilation system is not particularly cool which means that I need the air on most of the time. The normal ventilation seems to pick up hot air from under the bonnet - its great out on the highway but not clever around town. The dealer has checked and tells me that all is in order. Has anyone else had the same type of issue?

From memory the manifold and exhaust run down under the driver side.

If you take your shoes off and put it against the firewall of the driver side it will be uber hot. EVERYTHING ISN"T IN ORDER!

My AC is super cold btw, i can't go over a 1/4 way with the fan if i dial in 18deg C on the climite control. If i set it on max you can take out the beer and pre chill it for a BBQ imho!

While on the topic of faults, i just went to Nissan and lodge a formal service complaint about the window grease and the yellow speks that have appeared in my paint on the bonnet.

I'll let you know how that goes.

Around 1300K on the car and no big problems but,

1st to 2nd shift is sometimes notchy
The clunk is there - will try and reproduce it for the dealer.
Paint is Nissan standard - not bad but some peel
and the plastic trim is hard to keep looking good - perhaps a good leather job could be the answer.

REDZED my 350 had a "notchy" 1 to 2 and 3 but after 5000kms it's all nice and smooth now.

I guess it wasn't real bad to begin with so thats why i never complained.

BTW the service rep from Nissan will get back to me on the window grease and the paint is fixed. Something got in the clear...a buff got it off!
I've put on some crystal guard so it won't be an issue anymore.

Anyone else in Oz with the grease on window problem?

Yeah - I've had a grease mark on the driver's window from new - right in my line of sight to the mirror. Sometimes is more annoying than at other times. I've tried a whole lot of different cleaners but its still there. If your servide rep comes up with an answer I'd love to hear it.

I have just started to notice the streak on the drivers side window and Ive only had my car two weeks and probably had the window down no more than half a dozen times!

I more pissed off with how hard it is to keep the interior clean. I mean, youve only got to look at it and it gets a mark on it. I sprained my ankle really badly at soccer training the day I got the car and have struggled to get in and out without letting my feet touch any of the interior.

haaryw you're so on the money about keeping the damn car clean!

I've given up on trying, now it just looks good on the outside only.

Just a thought but those with the window streak problem, do you roll your windows down daily or rarely? Mine are rolled down daily and I haven't had the problem after the first day. probably nothing but you never know.

Sorry to hear about your ankle Harry, I did mine badly a bit over a year ago and it still hurts if I put weight on it at the right angle or when pulling on a tight boot etc.

As for the interior I find the doors do mark easily. When I get sick of it I'll look into having them covered in leather.

I've got less than 1K on the clock but so far no real problems. There were a couple of small scratches in the paintwork on the boot lid on delivery, but that's being fixed in the first service.

On thing though - that annoying reversing sound! We don't own trucks, we own sports cars - can that sound be shut down?

What reversing sound ? Do you have a buzzer/beeper or something ? I agree - they are a pain on cars, but mine doesnt have anything fitted.

RedZed i think he's referring to the auto version which beeps when u put it in reverse. My 156 Selespeed has the same feature, since theres no traditional manual gate, i guess they think its best to remind the driver ur in reverse.....even though theres an LCD in the tacho LOL.

It's like a beeper, just like trucks have, although it's only an interior sound. The bloke at the Nissan dealer in Canberra sounded a bit mystified by it when I mentioned it today, he thought it might have been a Japanese thing that wasn't changed when the car was shipped here.

I have an automatic, which appears to be the only point of difference to most other Zs on Australian roads

Yep - that would explain that - obvious when someone explains it.
Havn't driven an auto yet, whats the box like ? Auto 200SX's (series 1 at least ) were horrible.

I'm an auto man, always have been - had an auto MY98 WRX before the Z - so I can't make the comparison with the manual Z other than to say the slushbox seems superb to me.

Smooth (maybe even a little smooth) and no mysterious little clunks like the WRX had, although the car is only very new. The manual mode is a lot of fun too, but I doubt thered be much difference in times between that and just leaving it in auto. Driving to Sydney this weekend so I finally get the chance to give it a bit of a workout!

thanks ZXEC-33 for the tip. Now if I can get the dealer to disable the sound - it's bloody annoying and completely useless as far as I'm concerned
