Default What do you guys think of the Techosquare ECU?

Doesn't seem like a huge power gain but they raise the rev limiter (7100), remove the speed limiter and give some top end power.
They also mention that they reduced the variation that the code was inputing on new mods (af mix and timing).

It seems a bit expensive for a flash though! Also compared to the chip flashers like powerchip who say they gain up to 14KW it seems that the price of $ to KW is way up there.

Nathan can you ask for the dealer price? Maybe worth it if we did a group buy through your shop if you're interested?

anything to get a respectable price to the market!

BTW i'd be happy with a flash but i'd prefer it being setup individualy not the blanket mass ecu approach. Either that or a piggy back. I'm just thinking about the a/f mix and timing, a piggy back that controls those would be needed for serious modding imho!

I am going to wait for another company to come out with another reprogram (JW?) before making a decision, the changes are just not that earth shattering to be worth the money or hastle of sending your ECU right now,

The high rev limiter would be nice once in a while, the higher power at higher RPM's would be nice once in a while and the speed limiter?? well I can't count the times I have hit 156 MPH and wished the speed limiter was not there!

I don't think I'm going to worry about a flash. The raised rev limit would be nice on the odd occassion. Do we have speed limiters? I know the JDM cars are limited to 180 but if I'm reading my graph correctly mine was up to ~215kph in 5th on the dyno. If the limiter's higher than that what's the point?

Also remember that you'll be without your car for at least a week and if it's lost or damaged in transit your up for $$$. I imagine Nissan Oz would want at least $2k for the ECU.

I for one don't believe the Powerchip claim but I'd love to see someone try it and do a before and after test.

When the time comes I'll look at a piggyback but until then I'll watch the results with interest.

For those in the know its Dad here.
I have just got of the phone after talking to Danny at Technosqure
& I will be sending our ECU to them next week for some mods that I want put in the program. He does not think that will be a problem. I will talk to him again next week about a group buy.
If I send it on a Monday I should have it back by Friday.

Westpac
Jim Woolf may reflash a different program but he will be using the same hardware that Technosqure are using & for that matter what all the Jap tuners use. Techtom Japan.
I have priced a unit, A$10,000 but that is only for the hardware & I would still have to develop the programs.

With regards to piggybacks, I was talking to Peter Luxon of APS last week about a Unichip & he said that they had had a Z on the dyno and they were very impressed with the control the std Ecu was acheiving. Near perfect Lamda readings & he reminded me that the unichip gains most of its gains by optimising air fuel ratios.
The Dealers Consult 11 has the ability to advance or retard the spark a few degrees eachway & thats probably all Powerchip are doing but I dont Know for sure
I have tried the Apexi AFC11 on car but I did not like it & I dont think the ECU did either. Very strange

Maybe this is just stupid but at $10k for the hardware 10 of us could share the cost at $1k each. That's not much more than you're paying to flash the thing anyway by the time you take into account shipping.

Yes develpment would consume resources but I think it's an interesting idea to consider. By programs I'm assuming you mean the ECU maps and not actual software in order to use it.

I think it wouldn't be too difficult to recover our upfront costs and yes I am serious.

yeh, i wouldn't mind a flash if it was from someone local and that is done specificaly for my setup.

That would mean zero down time.
