To give every an update.

Yes, I did go for a drive with the Nissan service manager and both of my noises (from original post) were heard.

There was a "clunk" in the rear and a squeak that was coming from the seat area.

Anyway, they replaced one of the shocks and a couple of other minor suspension bits and peices and that noise has now gone.

The pulled the seat out lubricated everything and put the seat back in, the noise is still there. I cant pinpoint where it is coming from but it is around the seat. Not sure if it is the door seal, hatch seal but it is really giving me the ******!

It is a very high pitched squeek, like rubber rubbing on glass??? Its not the windscreen and it happens whenever I go over a bump in the road.

Anyone got any clues?

As always

Default Seat Squeek

Harry, your cheeks are too tight together!

Seriously, I'm sure that it's a common problem - lots of posts in
the US. And i'm pretty sure that there's a TSB on the Nissan
site about this problem.

Yes, my cheeks are too tight, but that's a stort for another day!

Anyway, I dont think its the seat. Its coming from either the door jam or the hatch.

Im taking the beast to get a few little things fixed on wednesday so they are going to try and find the noise.

I've now got a seat squeek too Harry. It started a couple of days ago and is very annoying. If anyone knows how to fix this, please advise. The alternative is to take it in to Nissan service and I'd rather not if I can fix this little problem easily myself.

its REALLY giving me the ******. Drove around a fair bit and all I could hear was that farking squeek! I couldbt even turn the stereo up as I had my boy in the car and I couldnt have the window down because it was raining.

I think (?) it is coming from the upright (back) of the seat, either inside or way it joins the bottom.

Mine has a small rattlish squeak in the drivers seat belt mounting point, could that be it Harry. I think its the plastic cover on top of the bolt. Of course it's at ear height and drives me bat shiite. It only seems to happen when the car is cold in the mornings.

Sounds like a different noise to my seak squeek Jim. Mines deffinitely from the seat and is a sqeek, not a rattle. I will do a search for seat squeeks later when I have the time to resolve this.
I've got a lot of weird noises eminating from different parts of my car. Another that is bugging me is a dull metalis clunking noise that seems to come from the right rear mostly but occasionally from the right front too. I'mm guessing it's a suspension noise, but that could be a bad guess?????
A trip to the dealer is looking more likely with each passing day!

I have a rattling (almost like an electrical buzzing type) noise coming from behind my instruments on the steering wheel area. If I pull the steering wheel towards me, the noise marginally decreases. Very annoying.

Any ideas on this one? (Other than turn up your stereo man and the noise will disappear).

I get that also John, when I'm driving over bad roads. Of course when I took the car to the dealer to fix, I could not reproduce the noise. One day, I will dump the car at the dealer's and tell him to keep it untill all rattles / sqeeks are fixed.

Just received a call (at 4.30 this arvo) from my friendly Nissan service manager about the squeek in the seat.

He tells me there is service bulletin just come out on it and it will take two hours to fix.

The good news is, according to him, all the other issues I had are now fixed.

Hi everyone,

Just thought that I would throw in my 2 cents worth.

I had my seat squeek problem (a couple of months ago). It would really drive me nuts everytime that I would accelerate away and even sometime breaking. I originally thought that it had something to do with the connector rods or axels or something like that (others had had the problem so I thought that I had the same). I was finally able to diagnose the problem and found that it was the seat.

I took it into my dealer when I had my service and told them about it. Apparently they had already heard about the problem in a few other Z's and were equipped to handle it. I had the seat fix when I was there for a standard service and now the noises are gone.

Harry, there's been lots of stuff on the US sites about

seat noises - for ages in fact.

Still reckon my first diagnosis was close to the money !

Snowman, the only thing I could find about the seat after extensive searching was in relation to rocking or clicking in the seat. I didnt find anything on a seat squeek.

Anyway, it's been fixed now.

I just rec'd my car from getting a few things sorted and the infamous seat squeek is gone. Yee Hah!!!!

Apparently there is a dowl that locates the seat and this is what squeeks.
