Default Oil Cooler/Remote Filter

Just finished the prototype machining for a oil cooler adapter which also has a remote filter ( hate getting under cars to get at the &^@#* filter.

Have not yet done the final fit up, where to mount the filter is still to be resolved.

Am currently machining an oil cooler for al billet as the ones I have already are way too big for a road car.

Nice work. Are you planning on selling these?

I hadn't really thought too much about it - my projects tend to be a labor of love ( Z of course ) not commercial.

I am only a "home engineer" but when it's all fitted and works will put a $$ figure on it ( and wait for the verbal beatings.... )

Well a location has been found ( could there be less under bonnet room ? ) drivers side, inner strut tower top. Tight but effective.

Will post a pic when its mounted. Will be fun to see what a dealer makes of it......

Being a "home engineer", may I ask what equipment you used to machine the adapter?

A small "hobby" lathe (9"chuck ) and vertical mill ( didn't mean to suggest by "home engineer" that it was only hammers and screwdrivers ). Working in the engineering industry makes you carefull of making too mainy claims of expertiese.

The engraving ( hidden in the photos ) was done with a 3 Axis CNC mill ( a friends )

First fit up photo's. Oil lines run straight down the strut tower and across to the engine ( surprisingly simple for a Z ).
Whilst everything hot is well covered I will put some heat shielding on the lines where necessary.
