350Z vs HSV R8
Yesterday, to me, it was just a car with a couple of s's. Now I'm a little more educated. Is great to get this sort of information feedback.
lol, good to see that all that info in my head is not going to waste :-)
Would be interesting to drag the auto Z against the manual Z.
My guess is that the manual will be quicker. Changing gears on a manual is always quicker (as long as the driver is quick) than in an auto ... so less time spend between the gears. Also, the manual has the advantage from a standing start due to it's ability tro 'cluth drop'. So I'm guessingt that from stand-still drags the manual will have a big edge as the auto needs to go though the lower revs, while the manual can 'skip' them with a clutch drop.
Though, taking off from idle will be a big advatage to the auto as you only need to mash the pedal. In a manual you need to engage the cluth and feed in the power and that takes skill related and time.
I don't think there will be much between the two cars when on a roll as I don't think the auto gearing is too far off the manual one (despite it having one gear less). I don't know actual speeds-in-gear for the auto Zed, but I'll see what I can find out. Manual is geared 62, 98, 142, 181, 228 and 290kph in each gear (not that it can reach 290kph in the 6th).
Another bonus that the Auto Zed has it that it does not spin wheels ob the 1st-to-2nd gearchange (and even 2nd-to-3rd) as it slips the clutch a bit there.
Or even better, maybe we can test this one day??
Sure thing, I can be available most evening after work. So we can certainly meet up ... I'll take you to my 'test area' if you like ;-) We can also grab a coffee and talk cars etc so let me know when is good for you and we'll organize it from there.
I'm interested to see the results myself.
Although you would have the advantage with the Hi-tech.
Yep, I certainly do ... though, I know that it's worth about 2 car-lengths from 10-100kph over pre-hi-tech. And roughly another 2 car-lengths before 160kph.

I don't think this is always true. I have actually gotten a bit of wheelspin on a few occasions (but not always) between 1st and 2nd. Even on dry roads. Nearly slid off an on-ramp once in the dry because I wasn't expecting it. Actually really surprised me.
David, will try to get in touch next week for some "testing". Lookin' forward to it.

That surprises me. I would have not thought that there is an auto box that will spin the wheels on a gear-change, but it seem that there is.
With the manual I will alway get a 1st-to-2nd wheepspin if trying to go fast (ie. racing).

Sounds good, just send me a PM and we'll organize it from there.
