Default Ferarri chase

Just had a bit of fun playing footsies with a Ferrari 360 Spider. It was about 2:30 am on empty streets with about half a dozen red lights.

To answer your question..... of course I kicked his a$$!!!! NOT!!!

Actually he didn't seem too keen for a strait drag - I was really curious to see how much faster he was, but we did play a bit of chase up to about 120kph for 5 or 10 minutes before he peeled off on an exit lane at mach10.

Had a look at some stats.

Ferrari 360 Spider
3,586 cc V8
294 kw @ 8,500
373 Nm @ 4,750

0-62 mph 4.5 sec
400m 12.75 sec

That's a lot of $$$ for an extra second .... well I guess it does come with hot and cold runnin chics though.

Wouldn't want one of those slugs anyway Yea RIGHT!!!

When I was in Sydney my neighbour had a silver 360 with bigger wheels and a replacement exhaust ... and it looked and sounded awesome!

Know what you're saying about the roads Zuff, but he took it to the track fairly regularly.

Thanks for the nice story Lionking ... you seem to meet a lot of nice/intersting cars. Though, that '1sec' looks a bit different when you look at it in different perspective (ie. distance). ie.

When you cross the 400m mark 1.2sec later after then Ferrari (ie. pressuming sub 14sec time for the 350z), the Ferrari is about 65m ahead of you. Not only that, but it's pulling away at a rate of ~30kph (ie. 8.5m/second ... that is 2 car-lengths every second).

Here are some other interesting numbers for the F360 (trhough not the Spyder, which is over 100kg heavier):
- 0-160kph = 10.5sec (ie. around the same time that the 350Z can hit 140kph).
- 0-200kph = 16.1sec (ie. around the same time that the 350Z can hit just over 180kph).

If I had a spare $400k, I'd be getting one of these babies ;-)

I agree Zuffy.

I would take a '69/'70 cobrajet over (almost) any Ferrari.

As always

I've got to agree with David. The Spider is pretty HOT! It's the car of choice if only one is available. What about the Ferrari for a Monday car, the Cobrajet for a Tuesday car, .... and for the other days of the week??? Would probably be able to fit the Maseratti and Lambo into the schedule.

If money is an issue, then there's always a 911 GT3 which will pretty much the above-mentioned numbers, but is a measly $240k. Still, I'd rather the Ferrari - that is probably my most-desired car (when talking 'reasonable' money ... otyherwise, give me an Enzo ;-)

I only ever encounter these types of cars when I'm a passenger. Only things I ever get to play with are HSV and Porsche and I haven't even encountered either of those since getting the Zed.

If I had the money I'd take a new SL55.
