Default Hi-Flow Cats

Does anyone have Hi-flow cats attached to their Hi-tech exhaust. If one were to attachHi-flow cats to the HT exhaust anyone think that we would see power gains after the already impressive gains from the exhaust????

Yes the stock Cats is very Restrictive, as you can See Flasher Dyno with R/T cats with Stock exhaust. It has quiet a high gain, so it's pretty good.
But my Crawford Hi-flow cats is on the way.
But i might possible to change my exhaust from Hi-tech to Ti exhaust, But still undecided yet.

If the cats comply - no prob RTA.

Tell the ins co. go fly a kite - if you change the colour of your upholstery, will that void your warranty?

Tell 'em fugg'em!

Car dealers, insurance, banks, - - like I keep on saying.

I wonder how they would justify refusing a claim if you backed into a post or something? Did the cats contribute to that?

ps - my ins co has given me the go-ahead for wheel spacers - that COULD affect handling and legitably be disallowed!

Must have got some power-crazy underling.

I agree with you. BUT its all good telling them to go F*** themselves but what happens whn i write off my car then i am ****ed. There has got to be a logical arguement that one can put to them for them to approve it.

The joke is when i ask them if i could change the cats, they never even understood what the cats were they just said no

FURTHER -

The best way to effect insurance and get your add-ons and mods ok'd, is to just list EVERYTHING however minor, at THE TIME OF FILLING IN THE POLICY DETAILS - you'll find that hey presto, no squabbles!

The stupid fugger that told you no because of the high-flow cats should also say no because of the H/T, or plenum or so-on.

Probably thought you might be gonna cart some wildcats in the vehicle to the zoo!

K well iw as going to order the kinetix high-flow cats this weekend, now i am noit to sure if it is a good idea.
What do you reckon i should say to the NRMA to try and get them to approve it.
Does the HT exhaust on its own void the warranty from nissan?

Re the insurance just tell them you have a sports exhaust. Initially with GIO they covered me for a cat back system. When I switched to NRMA they just list it as a sports exhaust system which can only be interpreted as the entire exhaust system. Cats are obviously part of the exhaust system so you should be right.

I think the Insurance missunderstood you with for Cats with a header. I know they won't insure you if you change the header, as Richie (Z350lover) asked his insurer. Also Richie Nissan dealer said it should n't be a warranty problem changing the Headers or cats.

Cheers

This is all crap - do you mean that there's no insurance for anyone with any modifications whatsoever?

That would mean that all the boy racers and their showpiece cars are all uninsured?

There's something wrong somewhere - I bet that half the cars on the road have some sort of modification?

We better not contemplate F/I if you can't get insurance if you put an aftermarket pissy plenum or header on the car!

FROGGLEZZZZ.

mmorris - it may be worth suggesting to your insurance co that there is a problem with your sports exhaust system (perhaps a cracked cat) that requires you to replace it. Then ask them if they would maintain your insurance if you replaced it with a more efficient aftermarket cat.
Worth a try and all they can say is no again and your stuck with the factory cats or you end up looking for a new insurer.

I do agree with KY350.... why not give that a try and find out!

As for my GIO, they do insure every piece that I have added on to my car so far, not sure about the cats though, but as they told me, as long as it is street legal, they don't see why they won't cover the car.... but I guess it all depends on the accessor's mood when things have gone bad and ugly...

cheers and good luck!

I have the HT exhaust and Kinetix cats (and Kinetix plenum). The cats were the last thing I installed, so I have a pretty good feel for the improvement, although I haven't gotten on the dyno yet. As others have said, the cats give a nice little boost throughout the midrange. In general terms, from 4500rpm-on my car is strong. But wait 'til you HT-users get cats on your car -- the sound!

I'm surprised you don't run lean with the high flow cats though.

I think your car will run leaner if you have the Header and Popcharger on. That's what other people said and i think with Kinetix will not as lean as the R/T because the R/T has a better flow.

Well looks like lateapex, not running lean, Because he has the K&N filter(Presume drop in), Kinetix plenum, cats and Hi-tech exhaust as well and not running lean.

This will be My Setup: K&N Filter (drop in), US spec Airduct, Crawford cats, Fujitsubo Ti Exhaust and Y-pipe.
So i hope i'm not running lean with these, because the setup almost similar with lateapex, but he got plenum which would create more air intake.

If i do i'll get SAFCII installed.

Cheers

Why wouldnt you go with the hi-tech exhaust i think that everyone can agree that it provides the greatest power gains

well maybe i'm being picky, I'm wanting little bit more louder sound and a Titanium, if that answer your question

But no doubt the Hi-tech (which i have at the moment) is good in power gain and they can't make any TItanium at the moment. So i just move to Japanese Brand Titanium exhaust.
