Default Non approved gear (seats, harnesses, roll cage)

If I was running non-approved gear like

EVO-R carbon fiber seats (recaro replicas)
Cusco 6-pt chromoly roll cage
Takata 340R 5-pt harness

could I still run in local track events and local autocross events?

I'm into racing for fun and experience, not for real competition.

so would the gear that i have even matter?

thanks,
victor

I don't think you'd have any trouble tech passing inspection at most HPDE's with that stuff. Does the Takata harness have a SFI or FIA approval on the label?

Unless you're competing in a sanctioned series, you shouldn't have any problem getting past tech.

Or the non-dyslexic version.

How are your harnesses attached? If they're not secured to a strong area like a good harness bar or roll cage, you might just want to use your stock seat belts if they're still attached.

Just make sure 'properly' includes the correct angle of the shoulder and anti-sub straps. That's the #1 reason why we fail cars with harnesses. They are usually 'attached' properly, but not 'placed' properly. Usually people have run the shoulder straps up from the floor board. Hopefully the manufacturer's instructions are complete in this regard (I've seen some that are not).

Then again, many clubs are not as strict as we are when it comes to harnesses.
