Default Solo2 BS car complete 3049 lbs

Weighed the car last night an was pleasantly suprised at 3049lbs. I think the car might have a shot if I can just figure out how to drive it fast I've decided to skip the third national event in Arkansas and do the SEdiv in Jacksonville FL.
Jacksonville is concrete and will be an excellent help in tuning the car.

So far this is how the car is set up:
05 350z enthusiast
Koni SA yellows (couldn't afford the DA's)
Hotchkis FSB set full stiff (right now)
Carbotech bobcats w/ super blue fluid
Amuse TI Y-pipe
Jic TI exhaust
Enkie RPF1 + some 23mm spacers for the front to keep it legal.
275/40/17 kumho 710's
home made pantyhose panel air filter

Anyone else making a go this year in the Z?

Probably not, we are going to have a test and tune the week before in Atlanta so I will use that as my warm-up. 8 hours is alot to drive for practice. I'll be excited to see some people Auto-xing the Z, see you in Jacksonville.

If my Z shows up by then I'll be over in Jacksonville. If not I guess it will be the fairwell tour in the RSX. I hate waiting its killing me.

Dustin

Edit: del105 whats the difference in the konis SA and DA. I've never really seen anything besides the color signifiers. Also hows the front strut bar working? I'm coming from a front wheel drive car and am trying to cut down on the teething time with the new car.

The SA is single adjustable and the DA is double adjustable. The DA can also be custom valved to whatever you want. The front swaybar set on full stiff helps hold what little camber the car has in the front through turns both reducing understeer and saving tire. Most would probably disagree that a stiffer front bar reduces understeer, but when it comes to stock class there are only some many things you can do. Combined with the proper alignment a stiff front bar is a big help.

Where can I find the DA model Konis? Also who would be able to give me good advice on the settings on custom Konis.

I was also under the impression that a stiffer front bar would understeer more. But you do bring up a valid point about reducing the amount of roll the car sees in the corners.

Have you checked to see if the Hotchkis bar is any stiffer than the stock 2005 bar? So far the stiffest bar I've seen is the Cusco 35mm, and then the stock 2004 bar with an extra hole drilled in it. I don't have any specs on the Hotchkis (weight, lever arm distance) so I couldn't check on that one. Subjectively I can't feel much of a difference between the Cusco or the stock 04 bar.

The hotchkis is 40mm I can tell the difference between soft and hard with the bar. I'd say it would be exactly the same as drilling an extra hole in the stock 04 bar, but that wouldn't be as pretty.

Ditto.

I was hoping to get the Z by this time so I could be ready for San Diego. No such luck.

I'll be getting the Z about one week before Atwater. I don't think that will give me enough time to get the Z broken in.

My experience with the hotchkis front bar is that is marginally stiffer than stock in the middle setting (I could only tell the difference by driving another Z back to back with mine). It is definately stiffer than stock at its stiffest setting and much softer at the softest setting. I have used all the settings for different occasions including full soft in the rain and it worked out quite well. The range of settings offers some good choices. I don't think their published numbers are accurate though.
I just swithced to the 350evo bars and found them to be a little stiffer than the hotchkis. The middle setting is somewhere between the middle and stiff of the hotchkis and full stiff on the evo is VERY strong. It made me feel bumps I never knew existed on thunderhill. The only downside to the evos is that you have to remove the lower part of the shock to adjust them because the end links are so thick. Trackside adjustments take a little longer. All in all, both bars do their job of reducing body roll.

edit: Damn your car is light. I haven't weighted mine yet but all my mods are adding weight (control arms, sways, rollbar, brakes). I'm too lazy to remove the spare for track events too..

I'll be giving it a full go this year. Have a codriver lined up for all the big events, new 710s for each big event, all I have left now is a front sway bar and a few other maintenance items to take care of.

It's a shame you're skipping Arkansas, that'll be the first one my codriver and I get to hit.

On your wheels, you say you have the spacer to keep them legal? Could you explain more? Are the wheels within +/- 1/4" of the stock offset?

Found my other weight thread.

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=92311

At nationals I weighed in at 3075, according to others there the scales were weighing in 50lbs or so heavy.

Will have to break out the scales in the next few weeks and see what I can get the car down to legally.

Chris I'm running enkei rpf-1s all around only problem was the 7.5"s for the fronts have a 48mm offset so in order to reach stock i'd need 18mm spacer but i also needed the extra 5mm to fit the 275 so right now wheel with spacer is 25mm offset.

The 8"s for the rear came in 35mm offset so they should be gtg. I might want a little more track in the back later with a 7mm spacer but I'm going to run it like this first and see how it works out.

for the front I made the 23mm at a machine shop and i'm really trying to get them perfect, if I can't (i've got weak metal lathe skills) ill run the 20mm spacers i bought.

Basically the enkeis where the lightest wheel that fit into my budget for the year. So i had to make them fit the car. I'm running nismo long hub bolts in the front to make them fit.

On a side not I spoke with Doug Gill about running adapters instead of spacers because I think they would be a little safer but he thinks they would cause a protest.
