Default Front brake ducts

Has anyone built their own brake ducts or found a decent brake duct solution? Now that I have found rear pads that are holding up to the heat, I am finding that my fronts can use some cooling. My front race pads are showing some small spider web cracking and are actually wearing faster than my rears (like it should be). I've seen people get creative with home depot parts. If anyone out there has done something with their Z, please share.
Shop vac hose seems to be a nice sturdy flexible material to start with.

Do a search, there have been several threads on this. Here's one for example...

Daveh, I cannot recommend using shop vac hose. I actually tried that once on my old SCCA race car, and it melted in very short order. I ended up finding a good high temperature hose from the Grainger catalog that performed much better.

Best bet is to make some kind of aluminum bracket that bolts to the caliper or caliper bracket to hold the hose securely in place (like hose clamps). Sounds easy, but to get a design that also allows wheel movement (both up and down and turning) is not so easy.

There are brake ducts that you can order if you have a Stillen bumper. They seem pretty nice.

My searching revealed some threads like that one that come very close to a final solution but have some minor issues. I was putting another call out to see if anyone has any solid solutions. I am willing to spend the $$ something well engineered. Thanks for the advice on the shop vac hose. High temp Brake duct hose it is..
350Evo does not have a solution for a "street car". I belive Nissan Motorsports has a kit in development because the T2 rules list them as legal add-ons. They have not returned my call regarding these.

I did find this interesting link. I like the bracket that mounts to the rotor. http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/PICS/BrakeDucts/ducts.html

I will also be calling my shop that built my cage. I belive they do custom brake ducting as well.

Nissan Motorsports has one for T2. Call 310-538-2610 and ask to speak with Paul. It mounts to the front under tray.

I actually spoke with Paul this morning. I'm not sure how much I like the idea of the front undertray as the inlets. This, along with the stillen kit just has an open ended hose directed at the brake. Ideally, I'd like some type of mounting bracket to shoot air directly into the center of the rotor. Paul did mention that they were seeing 100 degree temp drops in the rotors which would probably be sufficient for me.

I don't like the fact that it doesn't have the mounting brackets either, but it's better then not having anything at all. You can always use the T2 kit and then build your own bracket.
Good Luck,
J

Last year, I made a replacement undertray with ducts built in. The one time I tested it, it kept rotor temps about 50 degrees cooler. The problem was that I was unable to get a very large diameter pipe runing to the brakes. I've been working on another setup, but just haven't had time to finish it. Now that I don't track the Z, I'm not sure I'll have the time or energy to finish it.

Thanks Jason, what's your take on the undertray inlets? Do you think it will draw in enough air?

Example of some nice looking kits (too bad there aren't some like these for the Z): http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html...aramCat=Brakes

Silicon hosing and inlet ducts:

Here's an interesting solution:
http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...cooling+scoops

I'm not too keen on sweeping rocks and road kill into the rotor though.

I've seen the outlet ducts that you are seeking in one of my racing supplies catalogs, but for the life of me, I can't find that catalog now!?!? I'll look around more when I get home.
