So I'm watching redline TV (sue me). I'm hearing about the honda cup, the S2000 guys talking trash about FWD and how it shouldn't be allowed on a track, blah blah. Then they say "oh the S2000 is as close to a race car as you can get" but they have to modify the crap out of it. That Marty Roush guy, or whatever his last name is, white s2000. He annoyed the hell out of me. Seemed like a real arrogant *****.
Let me ask this.
Take an S2000, and a Z. Leave the engines/exhausts bone stock, modify suspension to the hilt. What car is going to do better?
Q2. I live in FL, about an hour from Sebring. What do you suggest for me in terms of trying to get into road racing?
I've got the turbonetics ST, I think I've got too much power for autocross, and that doesnt' really appeal to me anyways.
Q3. What sway bars should I buy that will be most effective and least painful on the wallet.......or is there something else i should get before swaybars equivalent in price?
Thanks for listening to the racing newbie

Im not sure but from all the videos Ive seen and the people I talked to. The s2000 will rock if the course has more curves due to its weight but the Z will pull on the straights. So it depends on course.
The S2000 will oversteer any chance it gets. Lots of fun on a race track!
The S2000 rear diff does not help it, powering out of a turn is not as easy as with my Z Track.
As far as winning? Well, no car can drive itself. The best driver should win.

Get brake pads and tires before swaybars.

I should have made it more clear, heh. I've got wheels and tires already.
I'll likely be getting a wilwood 6pot front bbk as well.
So with those out of the way, and rear brakes upgraded....go sways next?

Well we love our car's, but I really have to say that a quick scan of actual SCCA reslut's gives you the most unpartial answer you can get. Their have been a few discussion's about this on SCCAFORUMS.COM, IIRC most all have been how the S2000 is quicker in SCCA events and how the Z guys are fighting to change that. But aren't they now classed apart now?

SCCA Autocross, or SCCA Club racing...
To very different things.
Def depends on the track, on the Roval at PPIR, my Z was quicker, but it was a high speed track. At Second Creek, where it's really more like a giant autocross, the S2000 and RX-8 were both quicker due to the tighter handling attributed to lower curb weights. In an autocross, the S2000 will own you stock for stock.

Theoretically speaking- the Z is faster than the S2K on road race tracks and the S2K is quicker in Solo2. As for your question about how to get involved in motorsports, how about trying SCCA Time Trials (or the equivalent in your area)? I know Sebring is quite expensive to rent and you're not putting all the safety equipment in your car to go road racing. But TT or track days will give you a taste and you'll gain a better perspective on where you want to go.
As for swaybars, there are a variety of adjustable bars on the market and I'd suggest this is the way to go. Do a little research and you'll find a wide variety of information on the subject.

Well, I would, but some track days are few and far between at Sebring. I've ran cars before with sways and really can tell the difference, and there are a few private roads around here that I can do some mid-speed lapping to get a good feel. Basically I want a little less plow but a little more confidence in the corners that I won't snap oversteer with the power LOL!
