Default oakland autocross videos

Carl Merritt from clubz posted some videos of the Z's at the autocross in oakland last sunday.

I am not sure if the redline is a my350z.com member, but C Ray Z is driving the Brickyard (and got the best time of the three of us, possibly the best in class) and I am in the ChromeSilver.

Thumbs up Thanks for the link

Z Pilot. I had a blast and look forward to the next Autocross. Nice talking to you. I thought we held our own for our first time on a course.

I'm the red 350Z. It was a great day. Hope to see you both at Candlestick in two weeks. Thanks for the pictures!

I am just getting into autocross myself. Thanks for sharing, it was enjoyable to watch and they are getting me excited for my first meet.

Default auto cross

any chance a g35 coupe could participate in these events. i am a past member of the porsche club and have autox's with them. I live in the bay area and there dosen't seem to be any g35 clubs doing this. Any sympathy for a g35 cousin would be appreciated.

The autocross series is sponsored by the SCCA. Any car is welcome and can enter. I imagine that a G35 would be in B-stock with the 350Zs. The next two events for the series are at 3Com park on February 9th and 23rd.

The entire schedule can be viewed at WWW.SFRSCCA.org (San Francisco Region SCCA)

I think the G35 is going into DS to run against the BMW 330i, it's not quite up to the 350Z performance level.

here's the results link (page down to B Stock), don't feel too bad, those are two of the top S2000 drivers in the US:

Hmmm...are we talking the G35 sedan or the G35c? Is there a distiction made between the 300Z and the 300Z 2+2 in classing? If we are talking the G35c, it seems to me that it is the 2+2 version of the 350 and shoud run in BS. I can definitely see the G35 sedan running in DS though.

The results of the autcross are up. Ray came in first in BS-N. Jack and I came in 14th and 15th (respectively) in BS. I should have been in the BS-N class where I would have placed second (unless Jack should have been there, then I would have been third )

I'm a beginner also, and I'm sure our times will improve dramatically. I have autocrossed three times with my '71 510 but the brakes and power of the Z are so much greater, there's not much in common. I did find that the car handled better when the VDC was off. It was not difficult to induce oversteer.

Speaking of oversteer, I'm glad that the video was not of my first run when I spun on the back side of the course.

Yeah, with your spin, and my spin at sears point, I did the first two runs with the VDC on. The third run, with it off, I went way too easy.

I'm sure the spin at Sears Point got your attention! I punted my car into the weeds at thunder hill last summer--nothing broke but I am constantly reminded of that by my sons.

There's a lot to think about and much room for improvement.

I was lucky enough to do it at probably the best time. I was coming around turn 11 and got too heavy on the throttle on the way out. Just pavement on the inside of the turn, and no traffic. Pretty low speed helped too. I did have the presense of mind to put both feet in (or maybe it was my friend in the passenger seat yelling "both feet in") I felt it start to break loose on that turn a couple more times after that, but I was able to catch it. Too bad I didnt have the camera in the car that day. Everyone there heard it and kept asking me if all that noise was me.....

The latest Fastrack is up http://www.scca.org/news/fastrack/03-03.pdf (page F-41), and it looks like the G35 Coupe is in BS. The sedan has been moved from GS to DS.
