Default Pre-Event Check List

Wanted to come up with a check list I could use at home before a event. Would like some input, so here is what I have so far:

Pre-Event (home):
- Bleed brakes (if oil > 1 year, completely change oil)
- Inspect brake pads (change to track pads if Road racing, leave reg for AutoX)
- If changed to track pads - break them in
- Inspect brake lines for leaks
- Check to ensure that E-Brake works
- Check brake pedal feel
- Inspect tires for wear
- Inspect wheels for fatigue
- Check fluids: Oil, Water, powersteering fluid
- Check/replace/clean Air Filter
- Check/adjust Toe
- Inspect Suspension for fatigue
- Check/Adjust/lube Sways
- Remove all misc items from car (floor mats, maps, ...)
- Check under car for any fluid leaks
- Ensure that gas pedal returns easily
- Inspect safety belt
- Inspect helmet
- Take a test drive around side streets, make sure it feels/sounds right

Pre-Event (at Track)
- Change tires/wheels
- Tq lugs
- Check brakes again (pedal feel, pads, fluid)
- Check/change tire pressure
- Check/adjust Camber
- Put number on car
- Look/remove anything else from inside the car
- Take a test drive before event
- Re-Check Lugs
- Make any test drive adjustments needed

Let me know what you think. Thanks.

I would have two checklists, one for Solo and one for track.

I would also add one more thing:

- Re-Check lug nuts before every track session.

I think a lot of this checklist is overkill just for auto-x. I usually just do monthly inspections and the main things before an auto-x.

For the track however, it does look like a nice, extensive list.

What about adding a line about taking your jack and tools (sockets, TP Gage, Air pump, tq wrench) to the track.

Check tire air pressure at the track.

You should also make a list of items to take with you:

Chocks - don't want to pull the hand brake with hot brakes, also lets you keep the engine on to help cooling
window cleaner
razor to remove inspection/track stickers
Wet wipes to clean hands
gloves
Misc Tools
Cordless Impact wrench (one of the best things i bought)
Torque wrench
Light Weight Floor Jack
Stands (if needed)
Air tank (if desired)
Paper towels
ear plugs (i need them sometimes if true race cars are on the track)
Tire pressure gage
pyrometer to check temperature
Spare fluids to top things off.
Extra set of brake pads (i take my stocks with me to the track when I cahnge them over to track brakes)
Spare wheel studs (I learned the hard way when I broke one at Roebling), now i have several just in case
Chair
Camera
Helmet
Numbers
Track tires
Snacks
Drinks

Glad someone finally mentioned drinks. Bring lots. A tarp to put your stuff on & cover it up if it rains. And a small covered plastic storage bin to keep all the cr*p from your interior in.

Also, spare eye glasses if you wear glasses. And be sure to bring cash & or checkbook.

Last, but not least, an umbrella girl!
