Summit Point National Race This Weekend
SCCA is having a National race this weekend at Summit Point. We will be there with our brickyard #4 350Z in T-2. The entry list for T-1 is aout 17 and for T-2 is 8 I think. Should be a tight race. This track is open to spectators and has some bleachers. You can also go into the paddock area and look at the cars. Stop by and say hi. Bob Hines
The guy who bought the 350Z in the Ebay auction is at Summit Point with the car. His name is Tim Hund and hes also from Virginia, but usually we see him in a corvette.
John......the car and trailer are on the pavement behind the new tech structrure that is being built. It has no room yet. Bring rain gear for saturday morning. There isnt a lot to do as we did most of it last night.

Ugly weather all day... first session it was pouring and the STis were having a field day. Second session the rain had stopped, but the track was still saturated. Rob managed to tick off a lot of time from his previous session qualifying in 4th behind the two STis and a Camaro with a LOT of power. Today is supposed to be cool, but sunny and dry. I'm heading out there now...
I'll let Rob comment himself on the race... although there were some good chases and runs at the 3rd place Camaro, he wasn't able to nullify the gap. However, Rob put up some very impressive lap times prior to his tires getting greasy.
Results were not yet final when we left but here are the top 4 from another forum:
T1
AJ- Viper 1:18.978 destroying his track record
Knupp- Vette
Scornavacchi- Vette
Kulka- Vette
T2
Skavnes- Subie STi
Hemmingson- Subie STi 1:24.354 beating his own track record of 1:24.781
Quinones- Camaro
Hines- 350Z
The race was fun but a bit frustrating. I caught the Camaro in front of me quickly due to the handling and brakes of the Z, but couldn't really make an honest attempt at passing because the torque and HP would allow the Camaro to pull out on the long straights. I wasn't able to keep my momentum up when we got into traffic and the Camaro drove away. The two Subies were in a different zip code.
Thanks Matt and John for all of your help this weekend!
