I don't remember how many track days I've done or how many times I had the wheels off/on but it is a bunch. I started with the OEs, then I migtrated to the Nismo 60mms. I noticed some strectching on the Nismos, similar to the stock ones. I picked up some ARP studs for a suburu at summitracing, they are 3" long and about $10 each. The fronts installed very easy but the rear were a PITA, I ended up having to take the ebrak cable out and installing them trrough that hole. They are long and long winded when you are runing a M12 x 1.25 on them, but I have had zero strectching in the two years ro so I've used them.

I run 275/35 and 295/35 Kumho MX or 275/40 hoosiers, with all of that lateral pull I've had no drama with these.

 

Will closed end extended legnth lug nuts fit over those longer ARP studs or do they have to be open ended? Are they 60mm as well?

Other possible issue is the knurl length is about 1.14mm "too short" but may actually be fine.

 

The thread size on this is 12x1.25. I thought the ones that fit our Zs are 12x1.5.

 

I actually use the porject Kics R40 lugnuts, they are closer to 75 mm (3") though I have never really measured what atualy extends through past the hub. Lets just say there is plenty of thread there to meet you.

I actually use wheels spacers to, I have several sets of wheels that I use on and off of the track, and spacers just make fitment that much easier. I torque the Porject Kicks to 70 lb/ft and I have never had one com eloose, stretch or leave me wanting in any fashion.

 

There are more stud choices at 12 x 1.5 or even 1/2 x 20 than there are for the M12 x 1.5, but M12 x 1.25 is our thread.

I really contemplated going the 1/2 route, and really can't remember why I didn't.

 

I use spacers also but my problem is I have the Project Kics with built-in studs. If I use the longer ARP studs, the ARP studs will protrude longer than the OEM length studs so the rims will not sit flush on top of the spacers.

 

Just take a hammer and knock out the studs in your spacers and then install the longer studs. I really discourage the usage of spacer/adapters with studs pressed in them, except for show cars, generally those apadters are not thick enough to take the lateral load that a good sticky tire can exert.

Getting rid of the studs built into your space my be an option; how thick are the spacers?

 

Why are you guys using a 1.5 thread pitch stud?

The Subaru STi wheel studs work great, and are M12x1.25. They are 3" long so if you're not using a 10-20mm spacer you may want to machine them shorter.

I ordered M12x1.25 open ended lug nuts from stockington wheel and tire I think they were called. I ordered like 200 lug nuts hahaha. I can't find their website now so maybe I have the name wrong. Sorry guys!

My lugs from Advent showed up as promised..good service from them..
Lugs look fine...

 

I recommend using the open ended lugs....

I think I'm going with the ARP Subaru studs (12 x 1.25) since the specs are the same as the Z. I just want to minimize the hassle of having to change out my lug nuts.

unless you are using 20mm spacers, you'll need new open ended lug nuts anyhow..
