ok...but the nismo studs are said to be of the same quality as the regular OEM studs

I haven't broken any studs recently, I've actually gone back to stock studs since I haven't been using spacers anymore. Just make sure to change the studs once a season if you change wheels often and try not to over-torque them.

I'm using the ARP studs on my Z with open-ended nuts. I had the gorilla spine-drive ones, hated having that tool, so I grabbed M12x1.5 17mm ones from HMS near Boston while at NHIS.

I found summit racing offers the studs in sets of 5 for about 40 bucks. they are ARP studs. SPL has the same studs but offers in full sets only and they are about 130.00 or so.

btw: I tried Dorman studs - yeah they suck too. Broken several. But I torque to 90lbs religiously. Just wouldn't feel safe otherwise.

4x40 > 130 ... Unless you mean for re-ordering / replacements?

http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...115+4294779949 set of 5 39.39

http://www.splparts.com/Parts/Univer...es/default.htm set 119.

but unless you can call and do it differently, you can only buy a complete set on SPL, not just per wheel.

Hi,

Our prices are per set of 10 studs, so for 2 wheels, not 4 wheels. The ARP studs we supply are *not* the P/N 100-7717 you listed. Yes, the studs we offer can be purchased on Summit, for about $10 cheaper for 10 studs, but on the other hand, we do include high grade nuts and washers to help make installation easier. And we also stock the open ended lug nuts suitable for these studs.

I've been running the ARP's from SPL for a few track events now and am happy to report they are holding up just fine. Cheap insurance in my opinion.

Default Thread pitch

I believe the stock pitch is 1.25, while all the ARP studs mentioned above are 1.5; just a heads-ups.

If stock knurl diameter is .561 (14.25mm) and length is .315 (8mm) (UHL=46mm/1.8125")
and .509 is too small of a knurl diameter...

ARP's website shows these as the closest matches:
.565 (14.35mm) dia & .270 (6.86mm) length - part#100-7717/6 (3"UHL & M12x1.5/1.25)
.565 (14.35mm) dia & .325 (8.26mm) length - part#100-7718 (2.34"UHL & M12x1.5)

They can not be the 100-7717 because these are ~20mm longer than stock while SPL says theirs are 10mm longer. So, it would seem that they have the 100-7718 which is approx. 10mm longer than stock, however, when you subtract the .363" non-threaded nose, the additional usable length is only about 5mm.

If you want the biggest and best stud for the track we have an extra set that we made for our 2003 Enthusiast and our 2005 Track cars,1/2" Moroso studs custom machined to match 350Z knurl(came with .568" dia X 20 mm long knurl).

Specs:
Thread................1/2-20
Knurl...................14.25mm(0.561") x 8mm
underhead length..62mm(2.5") + rounded end(quick mount)

The 1/2 inch dia fits OEM rotors and wheels just fine.If anyone wants our extra set you can have for $150 plus shipping.Expensive, but custom machining is hard to come by and I am embarrassed to mention what the actual cost was for our three sets.Lug nuts included plus photo instructions for installation (trick makes rears as easy to install as fronts).
Jim and Carter T.
If you want the best our extra set, including lug nuts, is still available and they fit perfectly.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I'm still having problems sourcing the right wheel studs for my T2 Z. I've tried an ARP stud with a .565 knurl on the rear hub and it still doesn't seem to have enough grip length to fit tightly in the stock knurl diameter of .561. Up front, I'm using a 20 mm spacer and the 60 mm stud is too short once it goes through both the hub, spacer and Enkei RPFM-1. Any suggestions?

Try calling Chris at ARP. He's in the custom fasteners area. We run their studs on our car and haven't had any issues. I'd be a bit concerned about the 'new' diamter of your wheel bearings, so you might want to double check that first before ordering them. 5 - 6 thousandths should be the right number. Chris may be able to pull up our old order to see what we bought.
