Portable air tanks
Has anybody used a portable air tank before? I found some at Lowes and Sears for under $40. I would just need it to add air for a track day, would a 5 or 10# bottle be enough? Is this something I would then fill up at a gas station before hand? Thanks
most gas station pumps have trouble getting the PSI up high enough. then again, maybe that's because i run 60psi on my hoosiers. i'm sure one tank full would be enough to fill up 710s.
if you want to spend a little more for some lighter tanks, there are high quality aluminum tanks out there for about $80. http://www.behrents.com/
did you read my thread on the high pressure compressed air tank? very small, compact, with 3500psi of nitrogen (better than using conventional air, more stable, less moisture).

A freind of who is a crew member for The Racers Group (Daytona Prototypes) and routinely wrenches on 996/7 GT3 Cup Cars and RSR's swears by nitrogen. He has two systems (high and low pressure). The low pressure for tools and filling tires. The high pressure for car jacks - which is damn cool. I'm building a system for my track trailer with a 20 pound low pressure nitrogen bottle.
