We must be lucky at our site as it would be next to impossible for a car to go off track and hit another car or anything else for that matter. Then again, we have some very experienced safety stewarts.

Seeing those light poles and curbs, I can see how somebody could have an accident.

Nice pics anyway.

Driver looks like someone else. I heard that someone someone else may have driven his car in one of the afternoon heats?

True but I don't recall the name of the driver.

It was an event filled day of mishaps. The temperature was 85 plus degrees. I worked the third heat, and raced the fourth. After being in the sun for more than 5 hours, I know that I am not at my best.

The afternoon driver was Lee Piccione who had his BMW blow a dif before he even got to drive it... So I let him take out my Z. we got the tire pressures all figured out and in 4 runs he beat the top BS time of the day... Unfortunatly for me the hoosier tires (a3s05) are ****. Now I have to flip the fronts after just 2 1/2 events (though Lee driving the car is probably like 3 events with me driving the car). Lee's time will be up in the PAX results (he took 6th for the entire event).

Me I only got third, but it was a good day for me as it is only my 3rd autox in 3 years.

Jesus, I've been to a dozen auto-x's and never seen an accident. I don't understand how that happened. I've been to Ripken a few times before, those light poles were never a problem and most of the cars in grid were WAY away from the course.

The driver of the cellica completely blew it... The other car had just crossed the finish and was on the exit road when the incident happened.

I've been to probably 50 autocrosses and the only accident I've ever seen is an S2k hit a fence. From stories I've read, 99% of accidents autocrossing are from people that don't give it up when their run is already blown.

Ouch. I saw that almost happen the last time I was there when a Novice went straight at the start instead of turning left like he was supposed to and almost went out into the course.
