Front Camber Arms in Street Prep
I posted this in an old thread, but thought I'd just start a new one.
I'm running in the ProSolo in Denver and wanted to get a set of Cusco front camber arms before I race.
The problem is that I still can't find anywhere in the SCCA rules that states that these types of changes are allowed in Street Prepared. And since the burden is on me to show that I can in fact use these, if protested, I'll have show how this is legal according to the rules.
Can anyone provide insight and specific rules that would allow this type of change?
Thanks -Casey

I tried to do a more in depth post but it was kicked back as being too long...
from the 2006 solo rule book in the Street Prepared section.
15.1 AUTHORIZED MODIFICATIONS
Section F.
On all forms of suspension, camber/caster adjustment within
factory specifications may be achieved by the use of shims or
eccentric bushings. The intent of this allowance is to permit cars
to be restored to within factory-allowed specification ranges, not
to provide an additional method beyond those permitted in
Section 15.8 to obtain alignment settings beyond the factory
specifications.
So the long and short of it is NO camber arms. I also talked to last years BSP Pro solo champ and he also told me no camber arms. Now I need a set of stock arms to start experimenting with so I can develop some delrin bushings and see what kind of camber we can get out of them...
On the bright side when you go BSP you can adjust the spring perches of a coil over shock kit and lower the car a bit. This will get you a couple of degrees of negative camber and may be enough. The next question is will fat tires clear the fenders. But since you are BSP you can make the fenders wider...

Let me know how it goes. I've got Cusco adjustable A arms which is legal in Cdn BSP classification.
I'm interested in heading down to Topeka in Sep but I won't bother if SCCA won't let me can't keep the A arms in BSP.

You can run them in SM.... Are you sure that is the only mod difference in CDN BSP and US BSP? I hear the rules are way different up there.
Although I have not scrutanized the differences, it appears as though SCCA BSP allows a little more mods than CASC, but the vehicle classing is also much tougher.
Not being able to come down b/c verbiage for camber device allowances is not broad enough would be a bummer...
