we do the DS2500 for brembo calipers for $199 shipped - those, with the ATE fluid and some stainless lines, works out really well for club type track outings

I have never run those pads but I run those rotors and I like them thus far. We will see how long they last...

Old DBA rotor/Axxis ULT pads lasted 7000 miles up front before death of rotors and nothing left on pads

 

I run Performance Friction Race Pads and PowerSlot Rotors. I don't think you need the cyro for track days.

 

I'm running XR2 all around with '08 non-brembo brakes. Great pad. The main reason I went with them was they don't require a specific bed in (such as Carbotechs) to work. Couple stops to clean the rotor and they just plain work. Great temperature range and no problems at the track. They do get spongy towards the end of the session but it could be my fluid (ATE Superblue).

If you are using them as a daily driver, they squeal and dust ALOT. I swap them out from my stock pads a day or two before a track event with no problems using the same rotor.

You might have better luck with the XR2 as they feel just right on Khumo XS street tires. This is also the compound Cobalt Friction recommended me but I'm not sure how much more bite you'll be getting with the brembos. I've been told there's hardly a difference between the XR2 and XR3 anyways though....

Durability: Great, I never had a pad break down on me and I have gotten a handful of track days out of them with a few to go by the looks of it.
Rotors friendliness: Not so friendly. Like any aggressive pad the rotors wear faster than normal but I wouldn't say it ate my rotors alive by any means but I did end up with hard spots after one of my track days, I think I must not have bedded them properly.

General impression: Excellent track pad, I will certainly buy them again. They have great bite hot or cold (which I thought was wierd). As for street use I wouldn't recommend them for a number of reason: expensive, high dust (very hard to get off if it gets wet), noisy and finally the pad have far too much bite for creaping around parking lots etcetera and make your driving become very jerky.

 

I have a set of Hawk blues for the front of my OEM-brembo equipped G35, any suggestions for a complementing rear pad? Last I heard the Z/G oem brembo setup favors an aggressive rear pad over the front. I got the blues on sale from Courtesy $50 last year.

Planing on my first time out on the tracks this year, mostly going to be extended track weekend events, so anywhere from 1-2hrs of actual track time. Might get out to two or three events, certainly at least one. As for the car, performance is stock except for some suspension/wheel stuff. I still have some DD-life left in my current rotor/pad setup, so I was thinking of getting some soley for the track: Blue pads in front, undecided rear pads, solid or slotted rotors, SS-lines and motul fluid more than likely.

Also I'll be on street tires obviously.

General impressions: These are track-only pads. I have driven to a couple events with them, with minimal stopping/traffic, and they are not street friendly as they are very harsh on the rotors. they would require heating up quickly to get a good bite on the rotor. Once they are heated up on the track, they are actually relatively easy on the rotors. keep in mind they will cause rotors to turn white/orange and induce some spider web cracking with heavy grooving. awesome kick a** modulation with a strong bite. The rotors/dust seals will die long before these pads wear out, so plan on replacing rotors and such long before you replace the pads.

 

I know I need to upgrade. I just ordered the OS Giken LSD so I don't have the $ ready for a bbk upgrade.

I need some track only pads. Any suggestions? Tons of threads out there for Brembo but not for the base

What year is your car? The OS is great, but i'm finishing up from my stub axle problems this week with mine.

 

While agree with that the problem is: many aren't offered for the base. I'm looking for some help with finding a good set of pads for the track that are offered for the base z.

The OS I bought is for my 2006 base.

 

Your going to need 2 new stub axles, your base ones are the tapered ones like mine were. In the next couple days i'll post more info , mine are in process of being machined to fit.

06 base brakes are a lot better than th 03 to 05 base brakes, and there are a few great track pads available for them.
