Default any racing other than in your Z

just curoious as to the people on the board and if they race anything. I'm starting to race F2000 cars, wondering if there is anyone else into open wheel racing. If you race in any kind of racecar, lets hear about it. Whats your schooling and what is your goal.

Not really "racing" but I go to a track and take the gixxer for a beating.

I would like to get into some organized car racing but I haven't heard of too much about what's available around me.

When I was younger, I was in the process of getting my professional racing license.

Most of my track time has been spent in Formula Fords and Formula Mazdas.

Does karting count? Tracking a full fledged race car is not economically viable for me. Karting is good because it's a very pure driving experience, safe, competitive, and cheap.

Edit: thread moved.

Sure Karting counts.... I have 5 national, and 3 international Karting championships (before I even turned 18) Since then I have raced some open wheel midgets on dirt and asphalt, but have mostly done alot of stock car racing. Ran some touring series races, and I have even ran some NASCAR Busch Series, and NASCAR Chraftsman Truck Series races. I have worked for severall driving / race training schools as well.

I got my SCCA license last year, and ran in 4 Spec Miata races. Loads of fun, but I wouldn't mind trying a formula car for comparison (though the wife isn't keen on the safety aspect of open wheels and open cockpit...being a racing fan herself, she's seen what can happen in those cars.)

surprisingly, eventho the wrecks look bad on tv, the car absorbs mostly all of the impact. As long as you dont get center punched (t boned) then you have pretty good odds of walking away. Look at Cathrine Legg who got airborne and flipped at the kink in Road America going 180mph cuz her rear wing flew off, and she was ok. I was actually there for that, it was nuts!

What karting class did you run in? Some of my buddies run ICC pro in stars and Stock Moto Stars and Regional. I've also raced with and am cool with an international karter.

I started out road racing motorcycles in the early 1980's in California. I have run some Formula Fords and other formula cars. Did Skip Barber, Brands Hatch (now defunct) and a couple other schools. Ran SCCA for quite a few years in the Florida region, mostly in ITA/ITS cars. Ran some IMSA in a GTU Mazda RX-7 (including the 12 Hours of Sebring).

I am currently running time attacks on the west coast, high speed open road races in Nevada and Texas and I am an instructor with Pro Autosports in Arizona.

I haven't been in a Kart since '92. It was way before the Stars of karting, and all that stuff. I ran sprint karts, in the (what was known as the) Superstock (piston port) light and heavy, jR. 3, and then shifter 125cc and the 250cc classes in SDKA, IKF, and WKA events mostley. I was mostley in the wast coast, with the exceptions for the national and overseas international events I ran.

I've got some ambitous plans for 2007 with two race campaigns in two series. In SCCA National racing, I'll be debuting a tubeframe 350Z in GT3 with SR20VE power. This is a Nissan Sport project car with details of the build detailed in the magazine. I've also applied for a NASA competition license and will campaign a ITA (PTE class in NASA) 200SX Se-R car in their Rocky Mountain series. Targets are to qualify both cars in the NASA championships (at Mid Ohio) and the SCCA Runoffs (at Heartland Park). Here's a pic of the two cars last year:

4 years professionally motorcycle road racing. AMA 600ss. WERA multiple classes, CCS multiple classes and Formula USA/EBC sportbike challenge.

How do you make a small fortune racing? Start w/ a large one.

Done track days w/ cars over the years. Ran my Birel shifter Kart in autox and a coulpe closed track events.

Drag racing have run into the 8's on bikes and low 9's in cars.

Working on a couple prospects for 2007. Always interested in a ride if anyone needs a co-driver/rider.

Latest was a season of arrive-and-drive Spec Racer Ford stuff with Cal Club. Hardest racing I've ever done.

How did you like the Spec Racer (both the car's driving experience and the racing experience)? That's another class I've thought about trying before I decide which type of car I commit to buying.
