You must have been referring to the Road Trip Racing Team. Those guys were from our local autocross clubs here in Austin (SPOKES) and San Antonio (SASCA). I think there were almost 30 who made the trip, and 13 trophied. Trophies they brought back home to Texas included three Naional Championships -- one driver in SM2 at the Pro Finale and Solo Championships, and his wife in SM2L. The group also included Andy Hollis, several times former National Champion.

Most of these guys run the fastest times in our local auto-x and it's great to watch them run every month. And the rest of us benefit by competing against them every month (sometimes twice a month since the two clubs try to make sure their schedules do not overlap).

where'd you find the PAX index? (I've looked through the SCCA site, but can't find it)

Not exactly the best way to get my times -- having to "get it done" on my third run on both days.

I'm happy with the results for my first year in autoX...wonder how many more years it'll take me to surpass you and Jason

*laying down competetive times on your 3rd runs, when your first 2 runs were dirty, is no small feat - it's a lot more pressure!

Hey, Glenn. It's always good to put a face to the screen name. Congrats on the trophy.

I just might, though, I think my codriver seat is stilled for 2008 if I do what I'm thinking about doing

Congrats to Glen, glad you got a trophy.

Yes, I still kick myself for selling my 350Z and not running it anymore

Thanks and thanks.

I was surprized to see only one in the top ten after the job Lee did at the Pro, and a set of natls courses that to me looked like they would be good for a car with TQ.

I hope a few more show up next year. While BS did have growth over last year it is never healty long term to have a single car class.

p.s. I know some guys think the 350Z should go to FS... Well FS beat BS at natls. Oh the shame.

Sam Strano put a stomping on that class though. Plus he was in a 500hp Mustang if I'm not mistaken.

325 hp. The shelby gt and shelby gt500 are different. The 2nd place shelby would have trophied in BS, too.

Yes,I still think FS is a better fit for the Z. The Z's in BS placed 10th,14th,21st,27th,29th and 30th (out of 41).
Their times in FS would have placed them 3rd,4th,9th,13th,15th and 16th (out of 29)
.
Strano and the Shelby have raised the bar in FS.I would think that FS would welcome the Z's to join their class and add some solid competition.

Maybe I didn't necessarily see them quite that way -- maybe two corners on the East course (and the 180 was the "maybe"), and really only one corner on the West course where there was a significant straightaway after a slow corner. It was better than the "sweeper-fests" that we've had the past two years, but it wasn't necessarily "power city."

I'd also like to see a few more Zs show up. While Lee didn't trophy, he was right in there. The Z *is* competitive, and with the right driver, could contend for the win. I know that I would have ended up higher had I gotten third instead of first at the finish of the East course -- two full seconds of significant deceleration instead of moderate acceleration. It probably wouldn't have been enough for the win, but it would probably have been enough for a top-five. I'm happy with my 10th-place (and first) trophy, though.

OK I will let you have FS.... So long as the RX-8 goes to DS, after all it is a four door.

Now that is a good plan to avoid two spec classes?????

That would be cool but not sure you will see one as it has yet to be classed. Also as the Z is not proven to be competitive in the RX-8 Spec class I doubt you will see someone fast in one as most people that are fast want to win, not prove a point.

Lee looks to be moving to FS for next year (until the AWDSP class happens in 09 when he dusts off is M3) so maybe I should call up Dean Sapp as he is without a ride and loved the Z when he got to run it...
