TTB here I come!
Okay, got my car officially classed for NASA Time Trials. Comp weight of 3900 (with my fat a** in it) and rwhp of 365. It will make more rwhp with a different tune, but we tuned conservative, and thats the rwhp I will be using at the track.
Official re-classing is TTC* The asterisk means I have an automatic 7 points added, and every 20 points bumps you up a class. Given my brake, suspension, and tire mods, I have 19 points, which added to the 7, gives me 26, and bumps me into TTB. Good thing is that I still have another 13 points I can add to it and stay in TTB. Bad news is that the other cars that fall into TTB base class are the likes of Vette ZR-1's, some of the Porsche 993's, a BMW Z4, WRX's and STI's, etc...[IMG]images/smilies/icon09.gif[/IMG][IMG]images/smilies/icon11.gif[/IMG][IMG]images/smilies/icon09.gif[/IMG][IMG]images/smilies/icon11.gif[/IMG]
Oh, and the new NISMO Z is in TTB as well. Interesting.
Not sure who actually runs in TTB here in Rocky Mountain, though.

One good thing; somehow, with the stereo equipment in the trunk, I managed to get a 51/49 F/R weight distribution, so thats good for something.

Dave- I'll be there to provide some fun in TTB. Both my street Z and the upcoming T2 Z are awarded enough points to bump up from TTC(!) If you look at the entry list for the RM NASA opener at PMP, you'll see I've got entries in both PTB and TTB!

I'm not familiar with the NASA Time Trials class criteria. Is there a website somewhere where I can go to educate myself? We don't have anything close to the Time Trials here in South Texas (that's because we don't have a road course). I think maybe Dallas or Houston may have had some events in their local venues.

It's located here Stock, the Z falls into TTC; from a quick look at your cardomain site, you probably have enough points to bump you up into TTB. NASA does require you work your way up through the HPDE levels, but given past experience, you can skip a number of them. I know there are a number of road courses in Texas, as NASA Texas is pretty active on the NASA forums. You might want to ask there, as well

damn dave...are you sure that weight is from the stereo equipment good luck in the new class!
i haven't run with NASA yet, but will be in march. i'm going to see if i can skip some HPDE levels so i can get myself in the TT's quicker.

1st off congrads!!
I'm sorry to say but your car isn't going to be competitive at all in TTB or TTC at that weight.. . At least even in the Midwest area it wouldn't be and that isn't saying much. Luckily for TT your tires don't have to last that long.. .
You need to get down to a 9.5lbs : 1whp ratio... . NASA American Iron type ratio. That would be 3562lbs @ 375whp. 295s out back and Aero work.. .
More power to you for getting approved for and actually racing NASA TT though.

I'm glad to see some other Z's are finally joing TT. I made the decision last year to drop back down to TTC. It was wise decision as the TTB cars are much faster in California. I found that the modifications I used that put me in B were not making me that much faster.

I'm a road racer guy and am in process of justifying a used 350Z vs EVO, E36 M3, E46 M3. My budget is 24Gs for a used car.. .

LOL - I feel the same way! (AutoX is great for competition and going 100% and not having to worry about wrecking a $30K car...but they can get frustrating when you never get out of 2nd gear! --> that's when I know it's time to hit the track )

There's nothing like the thrill of sliding through the last corner before the front straight, and hitting 130-135-140-150 before braking hard into the first turn. Totally different feel than autocross.
Oh, I should explain about my TTB entry: I'm not in this to win at Nationals, and as my G is primarily my daily driver, and secondarily a track beast, I am not willing to make the compromises necessary to cut weight (remove the stereo, remove sound deadening, etc...) and be truly competitive at a National level. So, thanks for the adive about cutting weight, and all that, but it's not necessary. I just want to go out, run some hot laps, have a good time, enjoy the camaderie that is NASA, and possibly, if my driving skills get really good, win a day or two at the local level.
When/if I want to be really competitive, I'll invest in a tow vehicle, a trailer, and a 944 spec race car, hit comp school, and do some true wheel to wheel racing.

I'm trying to build my 350Z for TTC but I hit 20 mod points. I got a great deal on some Hankook Z211s in 285/30-18 which bumped me into TTB by one point. Here's a list of the point mods on my car:
+7 points for 30mm tire width over the TTC base class width of 255.
+7 points for the DOT-R/Treadwear 50 tires.
+1 point for aftermarket LSD repalcing factory LSD (Base and Enthusiast are on the same line).
+3 points for non-OEM shocks under $600 each.
+2 points for non-OEM ARBs.
Once I wear out these Hankook out I'll got with a set of 275/35-18s which will get me back 3 points and let me run TTC instead of TTB.

You might get more bang for the buck going with R888, which are +4 instead +7 for the compound, and 255 tires all around (base size, which will get you back some more points), and then using the extra points for a set of sways. Swaybars really changed the entire feel of my car, the most out of all suspension changes I have made.
