Just out of curiosity, was it not what you expected to hear?

One problem I can see with coverage for NASA events, is the disparity of the structure of events from region to region. For example, the regions around here, if I'm not mistaken, do not run the TT within the HPDE4 run group (but it's still open passing w/or w/o a point.)

Ryan, did I see something in your program about coverage being excluded if insured is “practicing” for a timed event? If that is the case then it seems they could deny a claim that arises during a DE session if the insured is signed up for the TT in the afternoon.

I may be mixing this up with another policy. Please clarify, and thanks for the useful information you have provided.

Dave,

I can understand your disappointment - this is a situation we're working hard to resolve. If you're attending more NorCal NASA events (as opposed to SoCal), contact me offline - rstaub (at) locktonaffinity (dot) com.

We are working on a solution for this, but in the meantime, you can always sign up for HPDE 3 and purchase our coverage.

Ryan

Morris,

That must have been a different policy you were looking at. Here is our definition of an event we provide coverage for (directly copied from our policy):
"'Driver Education Event' means a driving program combining elements of classroom, off-track, and on-track exercises. The purpose is for auto enthusiasts to improve their car control skills in a non-competitive learning environment under controlled conditions."

During the application process, before you purchase the policy, you must check a box to agree to the following term:
"I understand that this policy is not intended to cover competition events (including time trials)."

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks, I will, although this year, I haven't been to any events due to trying to save money. I used to be NASA Rocky Mountain region before I moved back to CA, and haven't been to any NASA events in CA yet. As soon as I do, I will keep you in mind.

Default HPDE coverage

As an agent, I have spoken with Ryan on this product and read the policy form from start to finish. There are areas left for some intepretation (show me a policy that you think doesn't have one and I will tell you to read it again cause you missed it), it does seem to be a relatively good product and one that people should consider. It is clearly not for competition or for the people who want to just go out and tear it up with no reasonable driving goal in mind.

But for people who want to go out to a track and educate themselves on how to drive a speed safely or participate in a HPDE that is controled, well organized and relatively safe, this policy should do exactly what you want it to do...give you protection for your vehicle.

Now Ryan...you really need to start working with some agents so they can promote the product at the local events. If you commission a few dedicated, and proven professionals that are hand chosen and well trained, you might just find that this product will take off. I wonder who you could start with....

Default Any Updates

Bringing this back from the dead...

Are there any updates on this subject? I'm looking to start going to the track for driving school this spring before starting with HP sport driving days and HPDE at Pacific Raceway.

I've looked up WSIB & Lockton Affinity already but just wondering if those with experience have any updates
