Default Go-Pro Digital Camera Discount

Hey Guys,

My buddy is the ceo of a new company called Go-Pro http://www.goprocamera.com/. They sell little portable cameras that shoot still and video, in a small waterproof case that is extremely durable, and can be used for shooting while, mountain biking, surfing, hiking, whatver outdoor activity you'd like to do. They are also making a kit called the "motorsports hero" that i personally use on my F2000 race car, and have used it on the Spoon Civic Type R that i raced in the Thunderhill 25hours. It can be mounted anywhere, and by anywhere i truely do mean it.

For some example videos check out you tube and type in Jeff Westphal, the two f2000 videos were shot using these cameras, or you can type in go pro and alot of his videos will pop up.

If anyone is interested in buying one of these, I can get you 10% off!! Just type my name into the discount code when ordering online "jeff", and it will deduct it from your order.

Just thought you guys might want to know this!!! If you have any questions feel free to pm me.

Kinda cool. Going to have to remember this. Small and cheap enough to where it'll work for exterior mounts.

The 2GB SD card lasts about 45-50 mins. With a good lithium battery, you'll get all of that and maybe an additional 5-10 mins MAX on the next SD card. Pretty much, you have to replace the battery every time you run out of memory on the SD card.

Lithium batteries are the best.
Regular (Energizer/Duracel) batteries still should do the full 45 mins, but not always in colder weather.
Rechargeable work but not worth the money, and if you're in cold climates, forget even the best rechargeable batteries as they just dont work.

I saw this at Griot's Garage this past weekend. Definately a lot better than the bullet cam that I was thinking about using which would require running a wire back to the cabin. I was thinking about getting it then and luckily First350 told me about this post. I just put an order in for the Motorsports HERO w/ the Ride HERO add-on. I'll let you know how it goes when it gets in. Thanks for the discount code Jeff!

as far as i know right now, there are no plans for a hardwire kit due to the waterproof casing the camera housing is built into, but these cameras are constantly evolving so i wouldn't doubt it. Thanks for all the interest guys!!!!

My race team is using these now for tire testing on our F2000 and Pontiac GXP-R, so dont be afraid to hang these things out.

I'm ordering up an Aiptek A-HD and potentially 1-2 Chasecam (bullet) cameras. I just need to figure out an SCCA approved mount (which I don't think suction cups are). Hoping to get this all in place before my May 28-29 event at VIR. If not, I'll be back at VIR in June to run the Grand Course, maybe I'll have it fixed by then.

thats nice guy /\, now back to the real questions...... The digital hero cameras mount by plastic bases that attach to any flat or curved surface of your car. the suction cup is sold separately, and offers a temporary mount so you can remove it quickly and easily.

Update: Lithium Ion Batteries can last 2 hours. So that's two full 45-50minute runs on a 2GB SD card.

Still do not use rechargable batteries even under normal temperatures as they often dont even last the full length of the SD card.

actually you can buy your own one of those cars /\ for about 50k. It's called a Stohr F1000. It's powered by a 1000cc motorcycle engine, and uses paddle shifters to activate the 6 speed sequential gearbox that is normally on the bike. Damn fast car for the money, it is about 1 second a lap faster than my f2000 zetec that i race in the Pacific F2000 championship. We run 1.32.xxx around Infineon Raceway, the F1000 can do 1.31's. For some comparison, i tested the Spoon DC-5 (JDM Integra R) and FD-9 (08' Civic Type R) race cars before racing the Thunderhill 25hrs, and we did 1.49's and 1.50's. And a street Porsche 993 stripped down with a cage and hoosiers can do 1.54's. I would highly recommend getting into open wheeled cars, there is nothing like it!

We put a couple of videos up from a recent rallycross that were done with the GoPro. http://youtube.com/user/SportsCarMag

These were shot with the camera in the upside down mode, mounted on the suction cup mount to the inside of the windshield of our Project Sentra.

Sorry for the lack of audio, when I made the video I did not have the stupid Vista upgrade on my laptop so the audio file got lost. But I have it now, works great, I just need to update the vids.
