Summit Point National Results
The T-2 class had only 7 entrys with two Nissan 350Z cars entered. Saturday qualifying had a Pontiac Solstice well below the lap record at a 1:22.189 almost 1.5 seconds faster than our second place Z car. The first two cars were under the lap record and records were set in almost every race because of the new pavment. Third and fourth were Mitsubishi turbo cars. In fifth place was a Z28, sixth a BMW and seventh another Z car.
Sundays race started as you might expect, the turbo cars blew by on the straight leaving us in fourth place and fighting to try and stay up. Rob did everything he could to try and hang on and either wear the leaders out or their tires out. At mid race Rob moved up to third and the first three cars started to make a gap to the rest of the field. On lap 15 the Solstice started having brake issues and totally lost his brakes finishing 17 laps of the 23 lap race. So it was down to Rob and the leading turbo Mitsubishi and they fought nose to tail to the checkered flag. We came in second but set the new lap record, mostly due to a good draft while chasing. Good guy Brian Kellman from Baltimore, Md broke a cam in his Z car on saturday and we didnt have the right cam to help him so he took a start and called it quits so he wouldnt hurt the motor anymore.
So its one win and two second place finishes out of three races. Next weekend we are off to Nelson Ledges for a double National, then Road Atlanta where we will race the Honda S2000 which is a new car for us this year. Any crew help would be appreciated at either race. Then a weekend off before we go to Beaver Run, near Pittsburg, Pa for another race with the Z car.

1. usually you can find some pics on the scca site/forum
2. the baddest ****'s this side of the mississippi to drive a 350z! haha..
actually this is a father/son team from VA that races regionally/nationally with scca in a 350Z and a new to them Honda S2000. Rob (son/driver) is a very smart and fast driver. he knows his suspension set ups very well and as you can tell is quite the contender for a podium finish at every race.
oh and you might recognize this car from the cover of the Nissan Motorsports 2008 catalogue
