Default Belt Rewebing?

Anyone know a company that will reweb harness belts? Sparco does not manufacture their own belts and as such they do not offer reweb services. So I am looking at finding out if some third party offers the service. Sabelt made the Sparco belts that I currently have but I believe Schroth now makes their belts.

HMS will do Schroth belts and they might do others.

Sweet. I just double checked and my belts have an FIA stamp that says they are good till 2010. But then it also has the manufacture date of 2005, which would put it past the 2 year rule. Are any of you current drivers familiar with how this rule works?

I think I may have to find someone that rewebs Sabelt harnesses. Guess I'll try to call Sabelt on monday. Its super gay that Sparco doesn't even make their own belts. I also have a set of Willans harnesses but thankfully Willans will reweb their's when they go out of date.

Is your 2 year rule for SCCA or another race sanctioning body? Or is this for DE use?

Most DE's, if they enforce a date rule, are usually 5 years.

As far as re-webbing, it's usually not cost-effective depending on how much you're looking to spend on belts anyway. Brand new FIA rated G-Force 6-points are going for well less than $200 for a full set. Even some Sparco are going for about the same price (made by Schroth now BTW).

When you factor in shipping costs, webbing costs, and down-time... doesn't seem worth it to me to re-web.

Then again... I haven't gotten a recent quote on doing it either. Last I checked it was going to be about $75 a set... that was a couple years ago when Sparco still did it.

Most organizations have a 2-year expiration on SFI belts, and a 5-year expiration rule on FIA belts. So, if you've got an FIA sticker on your belt with a specific expiration date, then you should be good until 2010.

All of this is generic info, obviously, so you'll need to check the rules with the particular sanctioning body with which you're looking to run to be sure, but I think that your belts will likely be accepted until 2010.

Sabelt rewebs the older Sparco belts because they were the original manufacturer. They will be rewebed as Sabelt belts and its going to cost me $65 plus $15 dollar return shipping. Much less than buying new belts that are comparable. Especially considering they were only installed less than 2 months and only saw 1 race.

That's real news to me. Last time I had Sabelts and contacted them about rewebbing, the US importer told me they DO NOT reweb. Shortly after this, I checked all the US belt makers and found that Impact Racing was the only one to reweb and recertify their hardware. Plus, they had an offer to exchange older belts for a new set of their camlocks for just a bit over $110.

I've stayed with Impact Racing since that time!

Hmm. I called the lady today and that was the price that she quoted me. She said she would have a tech call me tomorrow. I hope she wasn't quoting old prices or something cause that would royally suck.

I do know about Impacts deal. Bill Simpson really knows what he's doing.
