Default Brake Pad reccommendation for Auto-X

03 touring model with 285 F and R Rcomps is what I will be running next season. I am using Akebono pads from the local parts/performance store, they are OK but I have a feeling there is much much better out there.

I am running ATE super blue and will be installing stainless lines when I do the pad swap.

Have used Axxiss Ultimates on other cars and liked it but I want a serious auto-X pad since car is a weekend cruiser and weekend racer, doesnt get driven M-F

I use R1 concept rotors, drilled and slotted. But been having problems with them cracking. So I am going to try there slotted, to see if I can have better luck. Have been running EBC red and having good luck, but next season going to switch to carbotech pads. The hawk pads that I used before EBC, actually fell apart.

Well you never EVER want to use slotted vented in a race app.

I have used EBC red and green and they suck I have to say

Just got off the phone with Cobalt Friction Tech and they have a new pad release that looks very interesting

http://www.cobaltfriction.com/compou...x.cfm?cid=2398

this will be replaced in one week with a Club sport pad that is apparently a better compound.

Thing that sucks is they say it can be damaging to wheel finishes. and I am rocking Volk Time Attack TE37's that seems a bit scary.
I have used their pads in the past and they are amazing!!! Just may be too extreme for my setup.

Little more research, Carbotech has a ax-6 that seems more rotor and wheel friendly so I may be trying that one as well.

I got off the phone with Carbotech and then did some online research, this seems to be a great pad and lots of people like it! Also I dont want to risk Damaging the Volks with the Cobalt pads

any reason to have a different rear pad setup??

+1. depending on how many big-speed braking sections your region runs (depends on the size of the site) you may look into the XP8's (its a step up from AX-6's i think) especially if you also do HPDE's on occasion. you'll have to do some trial & error to figure out which front/rear pads give you the best brake bias for your driving style.
