This coming weekend (April 18-19th) will have a SCCA Double National at PPIR. This year the competition in division looks to be particularly tough. Last year's Runoffs runner-up has already got two National wins out of division with his Solstice GXP. Bimmerworks is entering two new Z4 M-coupes with two good shoes (one was in Formula Atlantic two years ago and won in Grand Am Cup last year). Another experienced racer is bringing out one of the Phoenix-built WRX STi's for a go and a couple of older F-bodies are in the mix as well.
The Nissan Sport 350Z lost a few pounds over the winter, but economics dictate that my T2 campaign start the season on last years' Toyo R888s. With most of the field on fresh Hoosiers or Kumhos, I expect to be playing the role of the underdog. The PPIR roval is a 1.4 mile, 9-turn course that demands precision and consistency over 35 laps.

Three days before the RMDiv opener and a winter storm is on tap from Thursday through Saturday. 6-15" predicted and should make it one helluva tow south to the track. Fortunately, the Z has dedicated rain tires this year, but if it snows hard I may have to take the Blizzaks off my wife's Maxima!

Rallies are usually run one car at a time, but that won't be the case at PPIR! Green flag drops and everyone will be on it through turn one. We'll find out how those Hoosier wets or Kumho 710s run through wet, sloshy conditions!
