Default Summit Point Racing, WVA

I just did my first racing experience there (FATT) and I had a lot of fun. The first session I got all 2s, then went up per session, last session i had all 5s. While i enjoyed myself on the shannendoah circuit, Im hestitant to keep spending $250 each time i want to make the hour drive out there. I love in wash dc area.

Does Summit offer anything cheaper? I see an SCCA event in October, am i going to have to pay $200+ for that too? I checked their site and it seems like all the stuff they offer (outside of kart) is in that price range. Even just for open track

SCCA PDX's are over. They are only 150 if you do Sunday only. Expect to pay 225+ for the other orgs that run there...

Congratulations. HPDE gets expensive. Figure twice is all that you need. Once you have a second session in your pocket, you have 90 percent of it figured out.

SCCA open road racing is restrictive. You must be "qualified" to race wheel to wheel.

Another option is Time Attack. Time Attack is timed laps with staggered starts. You will not be wheel to wheel.

I'd also suggest you look into the Eastern Motor Racing Association (EMRA), as they have some events at Summit Point, as well as up and down the east coast. They offer TT as well as full door-to-door race events.

They still have an event scheduled for November, so get on it. If you sign up for a weekend, it's $150/day for practice or TT events.

Not sure I'd agree with that statement

Check out the back of Grassroots Motorsports magazine and the Summit Point website calendar. They both usually list track days.

SCCA usually offers a PDX (Performance Driving eXperience) once a year.

NASA offers HPDEs (High Performance Diving Experience) more than a few times a year.

Subjective: Track days aren't cheap. Entry fees, replacing fluids, and tires all add up. It's fun though!

Autocross is a lot less expensive but seat time is disproportionally less (cost, wear & tear, but also seat time).
