New NASA Class for 2012: Spec Z
This depresses me so much! When I got my Z I wanted to grip it but didn't want to do T2, and now I have my car all set up for drifting this comes along! I need a second Z....
My Tool kit had one spanner, one "***", and one 2MM tool...and a crappy instruction manual...with nothing better available on the KW web site.
For wheels, I purchased 4x RPF1 18x10 ET38...to run as a square setup until the ruls are locked in, and if needed I will buy some 18x9 for the fronts...I will run spacers as needed.
Also ordered a set of BFG tires this week...
So I should be ready to run no later than the June NASA-SE event @ Road Atlanta

And you could use the "extra" 10s (assuming they stay disallowed) as a 2nd set of wheels for stickers or wets. I have eight 10s right now as well, and a 6 non-matching 9s, so I'm ready for the rules if they stay as they are as well as if they change. Just would like to know soon so I can move things around of course. . .
Sorry Clifton, this is what I get for not paying attention to who I am quoting. Embarrassed.
seems that Laze is falling down on the job. I thought the request had been submitted.
Here is a "wish list" complied from my350z and NASAForums
here is a list of questions or suggestions prospective racers have asked me to pursue:
1. Allow 18x9 OR 18x10 wheels in any position
2. Allow use of front camber arms
3. Delete the rule requiring a heater box
4. More clearly state that any 350z of any model can run (Base/track/etc)
5. More clearly state if a car can be updated/backdated with OEM parts (Brembo brakes on a non-Brembo car, or engine swaps)
6. More clearly state if a completely stock 350Z with appropriate safety gear can compete in Spec (i.e.without SpecZ parts)
7. More clearly state if suspensions bushing can be replaced with NISMO parts
8. Can Brake Ducting be used...with what limits
9. Can Diff Coolers be used...with what limits
10. Eliminate the wheel spacer size rule.
11. Limit fuel to 93 octane (to save $)
I encourage folks to post up any reasonable suggestion here...and we will try to get them officially answered!

List submitted and discussed over @ NASAForums...and here.

However, until today, I had not had the pleasure of talking 1x1 with Clifton...the REAL DEAL...Winkleman....

And Marty, Clifton and I agreed that anything that you suggest...will be denied...I am just warning you

I hope there is some resolve soon, as I have a race in two weeks and need wheels. Also, is there anything new about the BFG rain tire? Or is it still the KDW? With my luck, I'll buy a set of KDWs, and a new tire will be released.
spec = affordable; isn't that the concept here!!!!!!!!
Can't wait to watch the first Spec Z race at VIR/CMP though. Sounds like its getting closer to reality!
Spec = tight racing at a reasonable prices
What we are paying is nothing compared to other classes and cars...
But Racin' Ain't Cheap...even in Chump Cars or LeMons...

You a'int kidding. Our Lemons car was nowhere near $500 (after adding in all the LEGAL items like safety, tires, wheels, brakes, etc., etc., etc.)
Wish I could check out the race. I'll definitely be watching at Nats!
I haven't been active here for quite some but I have been racing on and off with NASA here in FLA. I'm excited about this new program and think my 03 might fit nicely in this group. I've got some work to do but look forward to a real driver style challenge.
I'll be at Sebring this weekend with NASA doing some HPDE drivin...yeehaw!!!
