I'm 6'5" and have a custom seat mount in my '09 370z that gave me an inch or so extra headroom. I expect the 350Z will be a similar setup when I get it done.

I have always liked the 350z and I am very interested in spec class racing as I am one of the most competitive people you will meet and think this class would be awesome. Now here is the kicker and why I did not get a 350z many years ago. I am 6’-6” and 220-230 depending on how much McDonalds I eat. Is anyone here or does anyone here know of someone of my stature that has a spec Z car? I have searched and have not been able to find anyone that is 6-6 and has one. I know I don’t fit with the stock sets (do fit in a 04 G35) but did not know about racing seats and the Z’s.

Also, I will be at the NASA event on the 16th-17th in Sonoma and if any spec Z’s are there I would like to check it out and get a ride if at all possible.

Thanks
Blake

Sonoma like Infineon/sears point?

I am 6'1 and have a long body, and I also use a Helmet with a forced air hose connected to the top of it...and I fit fine. However getting in and out is a PIA, but I am also ~60 years old

My seat mount is build into the roll cage, and sits as low as you can go...sitting on the floor...just enough room for the belts to fit under the seat.

Blake,
Welcome! I will be at Sonoma with NASA that weekend. You can check out my car, but I have a tiny seat for my little frame. No way you'll fit in my car unless you are 5' of legs and 1' 6" of body. I have some room above my helmet and my seat is "mid" range, it's possible you'd fit with the seat as far down as possible. . .

Sonoma Raceway used to be called Infineon Raceway. Before that it was Sears Point. It's no longer either of the latter two.

What do you mean "~" 60?

If you are 40ish, you would be correct...And to celebrate my "senority", I have renamed my 2013 racing effort "G-Daddy Racing"....as in Grandfather.

Actually my Grand daughter named it

Thanks everyone for your input.

Scotts300 I would love to check out the car and maybe I will take a measurement or two and them map out the caulk pit to see if I would fit. I am hoping I do fit as this would be an awesome Spec class to race in.

Is the inch with a helmet? Is your seat all the way back? And how far off the ground is it?

Thanks.

I went from maybe occasionally brushing the top of my helmet to having a half inch or more between the headliner and the top of my helmet. Without the headliner you gain a little bit too.

I think that my bracket is as low as you can go. The back of the seat is darn near touching the floor pan. Ralph Provitz @ V2Motorsports built it for me last spring:

Went and sat in a 370z today. Not bad at all for my hight. Headroom was good but the only issue was where my knees bend and that is about on the searing wheel. Did you gain any leg room with your seat? I had my lady take a picture I will attach when I get to my computer. The break is the only Pedal that is tricky but not bad. All and all about the same as the STI.

I was reading and the 350z has less room. is that correct?

I think the 370 may have about a half inch more headroom. I can't comment on the leg room difference... I'm so used to having my legs cramped I don't notice anymore. :P I think the 350 may have a slight legroom advantage but I'm saying that based on a stripped out 350 vs a street 370.

Cool, I am about to pull the transmission to replace a clutch and was going to put in a NISMO flywheel while it was on the lift. Should I wait to purchase it from Nissan or just get it from any online vendor? Don't know what the typical savings are from purchasing parts through them.

I would think you can get a good price on that part from your favorite Dealer/Reseller OR Nissan Motorsports...so no need to wait on the Spec Z contingency to be released

Be ready, it ain't cheap, but neither is racin'!

I got mine from Kyle at IPP. Hit him up, tell him I (Scott) mentioned that I got mine from him. Maybe he will send you an IPP sticker to put on your car and apply a lil' discount. http://www.importpartspro.com/

My bad. I read that as I couldn't register with Nissan Motorsports until they released their 2013 plan.

Thanks Scott, I'll give Kyle a call.
